Save the 37th Annual Adams Morgan Day this year--
so we can call 2016 “The 38th Consecutive Adams
Morgan Day”!
Instead of blocking off the street this year, the 37th
Annual Adams Morgan Day is taking a more organic
turn. Businesses are working towards hosting an
Adams Morgan Day Festival that is an open house to
all their businesses and the artists within the
community.
Get ready businesses, because whether you are on
18th Street, Columbia Road or Florida Avenue, you
will be a part of this great day! The theme is to display
what you do, and possibly host a local artist or
merchant who may not have a brick and mortar
business of their own, in that vacant patio space next
to you. You might even want to share YOUR patio
space. Get creative folks – cause the people are
coming!
Possible ideas could include:
· Music being played from establishments
· Hula hooping contest
· Painting mural – or painting a square to be added to the mural
· Pie or cupcake eating contest
· Scavenger hunt with prizes at each stop
· Historical walking tours led throughout the day
· Karaoke in front of Peyote
· Street musicians roaming
· Flashmob
· Jugglers, clowns
· Drag parade
· Dance plaza
· Wedding cake for marriage equality
· Bike valet
· Partnership with local breweries
· Partnerships between bars and artists/crafts
· Sharing space with local leaders
· National’s Presidents and/or other mascots
· Statehood temporary tattoos
