AMPBID Board Meeting Tuesday, June 11
|
The next Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) Board of Directors' meeting will be Tuesday, June 11 from 5-7:00 PM at the Festival Center at 1640 Columbia Rd NW. Hope you can join us! In addition to the usual agenda items, we will be voting on the budget for FY2020. We will also be joined by Ernest Chrappah, Acting Director of the District Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA).

Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum
.
Remaining Schedule:
(We will have telescopes on the field at both of these movies for stargazing with guides from the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, weather permitting)
Movies are shown shortly after sunset at the Marie Reed Recreation Center at 18th and California Streets, NW. Bring your chairs, kids, and neighbors for a fun evening out.

The Department of Insurance, Securities, and Banking (DISB) will hold a public hearing on June 10, 2019 to review proposed health insurance premiums in 2020. DISB reviews and approves health insurance premium costs in the District of Columbia.

Business Continuity Planning
|
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) only 40-60 percent of small businesses reopen when affected by disaster. The Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) provides technical assistance to private-sector organizations through Business Continuity Planning. Such planning allows businesses to limit operational interruptions, protect employees and the community and recover from financial losses in the event of an emergency. Additionally, businesses provide many of the vital services and resources communities rely on before, during and after emergencies. It is in the interest of the entire community to ensure businesses are prepared before disasters strike.
Businesses must be able to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from an emergency. HSEMA reaches out to the private-sector and engages with businesses to provide them with the tools they can use to ensure their preparedness. If requested, HSEMA will also review and provide feedback on existing emergency plans for businesses located in the District of Columbia. Businesses should allot a minimum of 45 days for cursory review and comment.
Together, the private and public sectors work towards keeping the District prepared and safe against all hazards.

DSLBD Accepting Applications for
Robust Retail: Citywide Grants
of up to $10,000 per Business
|
A robust retail sector is critical to maintaining the vibrancy of DC neighborhoods, but market realities are changing for retail businesses. Thus the Robust Retail grant(s) support existing DC-based retail businesses adapting their business model to meet changing customer demand. DSLBD encourages but does not require applicants to include Made in DC products as part of their concept for business model redesign.
DSLBD intends to award up to $10,000 per business for a total of 40 businesses from the $400,000 in available funding for spring/summer 2019. Applications are accepted through June 15. Funds must be fully expended with appropriate receipts and accounting by September 30, 2019.
