How 'bout Them Apples?

This year's Adams Morgan Apple Festival was a big success despite the modified format necessitated by the pandemic. We had 11 bakers compete in the Apple Pie contest and we sold the slices raising over $1100 dollars for the RCNA COVID-19 Relief Fund! The judging this year was all done by the pie consumers with each pie having its own online judging form.

The winners each receive a 2 week CSA from Licking Creek Bend Farm . This year's winners:

  • Best Crust : Meghan Cater (pie M)
  • Best Filing : Megan Wright (pie A)
  • Best Appearance : Meghan Cater (pie M)
  • Best Overall : Meghan Cater (pie M)

Huge thanks to our partners at Licking Creek Bend Farm, to all the contestants who worked so hard on their pies, and to the pie purchasers who took the time to vote -- over 100 votes were cast in the contest. Even when we get back to the usual 'celebrity' judging format we plan to keep the people's choice voting in the mix. See you all next year!

Music on the Move with ADMObile:

 Held over into November!

On Saturdays the Adams Morgan Partnership is partnering with Songbyrd Music House and Record Cafe on a new project called #ADMObile . Featuring a fully decked-out vintage truck and a variety of musical performances, community members enjoy music from a safe distance while dining, shopping, and strolling through the neighborhood. We will be hosting ADMObile events this Saturday from approximately 5-7pm and the following Saturday as well (weather permitting).

The truck will make its way around Adams Morgan making stops for performances along 18th Street and Columbia Road. Performances will feature a mix of all music genres and will rotate on a weekly basis. We’d also like to give a special thanks to our community partner, T-Mobile , for their assistance in making these fun, socially-distanced events possible!

Be sure to follow along virtually if you can’t make it in person using #ADMObile at @admobid and @songbyrddc .

Post-Election Day Security

Currently MPD and the District’s Homeland Security Office do not know of any specific threat of unrest, but they are closely monitoring social media and national events so that they can quickly respond to any threats that arise. This is being viewed within DC government as an “election period” versus an “election day.” The city’s preparedness posture is that of a heightened state of alert, and that will continue through the inauguration in January.

Businesses should be alert to the situation, but DC’s Business Emergency Management Operations Center (BEMOC) is not advising the boarding up of windows, though businesses are free to do so if they choose. Refer to their Election Resource Guide for Businesses for more information.

Resilience Resources:

The Adams Morgan Partnership will do our best to keep members of the BID updated as the situation changes. Please fill out this form to ensure we have up-to-date contact information for your business or commercial property so we can keep you informed about this and other issues.

The Holidays are Right Around the Corner!

Join us in spreading some Adams Morgan holiday cheer.

After the year we've been through we all need a little extra holiday spirit, so this year we're stepping up our holiday game. In addition to decorating the kiosk at 18th St. and Adams Mill Rd. again, we'll also be decorating streetlights around the neighborhood with garland and constructing an interactive, Instagramable holiday display in BB&T Bank Plaza.

But to truly dress up the neighborhood, we need your help. Even if it's just a couple strands of lights in the window, we'd like everyone to participate in holiday decorations this year. Please let us know what you're planning on doing and we'll help get the word out about your lights and/or display.

Adams Morgan Partnership Annual Survey

How do you think we are we doing?

We've been asking for your input all of October, and if you haven't had a chance to fill out our annual survey, click here to do so and help us do a better job of serving the business community. In addition to the questions we ask every year, there is an additional section specifically discussing COVID-related issues. Paper copies of the survey were distributed to businesses in the neighborhood earlier this month -- if you have a paper copy you would like to return, please contact Brian Barrie (202-536-9515) to arrange for someone to pick it up.

Survey deadline has been extended to November 13, 2020 .
