DDOT to Support Cleaner and Safer Food Delivery with New E-Bike Food Delivery Pilot
|
An Adams Morgan location at the Festival Center is included
Today, June 30, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces a new pilot project to support the use of electric bicycles (e-bikes) for app-based food delivery in the District of Columbia (District). The year-long pilot will test the feasibility of using e-bikes for app-based food delivery in the District and to see how DDOT can support this shift long term. The pilot is funded by the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) through their City Climate Innovation Challenge Program, that aims to support a group of cities in transitioning to zero-emission delivery.
... “Adams Morgan is proud to be home to some of DC’s most beloved restaurants, many of which have come to rely on food delivery as a key source of revenue since the pandemic. We worked closely with DDOT and PopWheels to help identify potential locations in the neighborhood and connect them with the property managers — including The Festival Center, where we’re excited to see the cabinet installed,” said Kristen Barden, Executive Director of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID.

The DC Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Google and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, are reaching out to invite businesses in our corridor to participate in a small business roundtable taking place on
Tuesday, July 15 at 8:00 AM at Virginia Tech’s new Innovation Campus in Potomac Yard
.
This roundtable will explore how small businesses, particularly manufacturers, are navigating foreign supply chains and considering re-shoring operations to the United States. Google is also interested in learning how small businesses are currently using or plan to use AI tools in the coming years.

Survey: Electrifying your Home (Electificar su Hogar)

DC’s Department of Energy and the Environment (DOEE) is seeking to better understand how residents currently feel about switching from gas appliances and systems to electric appliances and systems - also referred to as “electrification” or “electrifying their homes.” This survey will be used to better tailor DC programs and resources to support residents when transitioning from gas to electric. Independence Day Office Closure, Extended Hours
|
In observance of Independence Day, ABCA’s office will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025, and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Extended Holiday Hours
For Independence Day Weekend, alcohol licensed establishments enrolled in the
Extended Holiday Hours Program
may sell, serve, and allow on-premises consumption of alcohol until 4:00 a.m. and operate 24-hours starting the evening of Thursday, July 3, and ending at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 6.
Licensees may confirm enrollment by locating their establishment’s name on the
2025 Independence Day Extended Hours roster
. If you believe your establishment was omitted by error, email ABCA.AlcoholLicensing@dc.gov.
To Register
There is no fee to register for the Extended Holiday Hours Program. Registrations are accepted on a rolling basis, and once approved, venues are eligible to participate in all following permitted holidays. Board Orders and Settlement Agreements apply to enrolled and prospective registrants.
Registration must be received 30 days before the first holiday a licensee would like to extend their hours. The next eligible holiday is:
Labor Day Weekend
Friday, August 29—Monday, September 1
Registration Deadline—Friday, August 1
