Join MPD for National Night Out - August 6
National Night Out 2013 is on Tuesday August 6th and the MPD Third District has two locations!
One location will be in front of the Latino Liaison Unit (LLU) at 18
th
and Columbia Road from 6 to 9 pm. There will be music, food, and entertainment. For more information contact Officer Rosa Torres at LLU 202-673-4445. If you would like to help, volunteer, or set up a table contact Officer Torres.
The second location will be in the 3200 block of Hiatt Pl NW. There will be games, food and entertainment as well. If you would like to set up a table, help, or volunteer contact Marco Santiago at 202-671-6604. National Night Out (NNO) also encourages neighborhoods to set up their own NNO block parties.

The AMPBID Board of Directors normally meets the second Tuesday of the month at 5 pm at the MPD Third District Headquarters at 1620 V Street, NW in the Snyder Conference Room. However, the board will NOT meet in August.
The next board meeting will be September 10th.

DC Mayor’s Office on African Affairs is hosting a Job Networking and Resource Fair on August 8, 2013 from 10am-1pm, and they want YOU to be a part
of it!
For employers, this is a great way to connect with the community here in the District and build a great workforce!
For job-seekers, they are looking forward to having a variety of employers including medical, legal, construction, and other professional areas.

DC Beer Week - August 11-18
Local distributor Jeff Wells and chef/beer aficionado Teddy Folkman started DC Beer Week in 2008 to celebrate the small, but enthusiastic craft beer community in the District of Columbia. Since then, the event has grown each year attracting thousands – from self-proclaimed beer geeks and home brewers to the casual beer drinker. In 2012, the event included nearly 200 different events throughout the District and surrounding area.
Many Adams Morgan businesses will be participating this year.

StoopFest Adams Morgan! Coming your way October 5th!
Adams Morgan Showcases Local Musicians with StoopFest – October 5, 2013
Adams Morgan's deep musical heritage stretches from legendary jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd's appearances at the Showboat (and beyond) to the eclectic range of styles that can be heard here today. StoopFest celebrates local talent by turning the front stoops and porches of several Adams Morgan homes into performance spaces where local musicians will play for the community -- and for free! The sounds will be spread throughout the residential side streets of the neighborhood, making the stunning architecture there the backdrop as you follow your ears from house to house.
On October 5, 2013 from 2 to 6 pm, the stoops and porches of several Adams Morgan residences will serve as temporary stages for local musicians to share their talent (for free) with anyone who happens to be walking by. “Adams Morgan has a rich musical heritage, and many of our residents are working musicians -- StoopFest is a family friendly way to share their talent with the community,” says Kristen Barden of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. Inspired by a similar effort in Somerville, MA, StoopFest is music to your ears!
