18th Street Steatery Pilot program
|
All of the existing streateries on 18th Street, NW between Kalorama and Columbia Roads are being torn down this week and will be replaced with new modular structures starting Monday.
Key Points:
-
The new structures will increase the safety, accessibility, and aesthetics of streateries on the corridor
-
New structures are compliant with the new guidelines for a permanent streatery program and are meant to demonstrate the future of the program
-
Curbside changes will also be made to increase access and mobility along the corridor
-
Demolition is occurring this week; installation of new structures begins Mon, 9/16 and will be completed by September 27

The 11th Annual Adams Morgan Apple Pie Baking Contest and the 16th Annual Licking Creek Bend Farm Heirloom Apple Tasting returns to Adams Morgan on Saturday, October 19! The highly-anticipated community event will take place in front of The Line Hotel and directly across the street from the farmer’s market in Unity Park at Euclid and Champlain Streets NW.

DC's favorite neighborhood music festival returns on Saturday, November 2. Our last PorchFest in May featured about 80 bands on 20 stages and despite the damp weather was a huge success and we're working on making the November edition the best yet
Make plans to be in Adams Morgan on November 2 for an amazing variety of live music, great food & drinks, specials from several dozen businesses, and yes, 18th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic.

Columbia Road Bus Priority Project Construction Update

, DDOT Transportation Planner on 9/10:

A detour is in place on Columbia Rd NW between Connecticut Ave NW and 18th St NW from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM (when necessary) that may fully restrict the roadway or limit traffic to one direction. I apologize for not providing any advance notice of detours because this traffic impact was not anticipated, but it has proven necessary in order for our contractor to safely and expeditiously resurface the roadway. This work should be complete by the end of next week.

I recommend taking alternative routes when possible during the midday timeframe if possible. And if you or a contractor require access for deliveries, trash collection, or other services, the driver should be prepared to explain the situation to the flagger on site and they should be provided access.
