Adams Morgan PorchFest is coming
October 6!

Last year we broke all the records with over 45 bands playing in a single afternoon around Adams Morgan and this year will be even better! We are still looking for musicians, singers, and bands who are interested in participating, so if you or someone you know is interested, please send them our way. Please note this is an unpaid gig, but we can offer you exposure to the thousands of visitors who attend PorchFest every year as well as an invitation to the private after-party. Interested musical acts can send links (not files) to video or audio of performances to Brian Barrie at bbarrie@adamsmorganonline.org .

The 2018 CSA SESSION 2 is rapidly approaching!

from our friends at Licking Creek Bend Farm:

We hope you will want to be a part of our CSA, visit our farm to see where your food is grown, and be a part of the voices speaking out to preserve healthily grown local food and cherish access to the wonders our earth produces.

WHY A CSA
The intent of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is to partner with the farmer by providing a cash flow to enable the farmer to purchase seeds, hire staff, prepare equipment, plant, nurture and harvest. All of this happens months before the farmer can begin to get income from the sale of produce. The pre-purchase of membership gives the farmer a good sense of how much of our yield is needed for the CSA, which is critical to a smooth operation.

  • There are 3 sessions left to this season - August-September; October; and November.
  • You can sign up for the entire season or by session. Either way, you need to pay before the session begins. So we encourage you to plan accordingly. Early bird prices apply for the whole season.
  • You will get a reminder about two weeks before the beginning of each session, so you should have plenty of time to get your payment to us.

Membership Fee
We are not changing the prices from the last three years even though our costs have risen across the board on seeds, equipment, salaries, etc.! Please check the attached Membership Form for the prices.

Don't hesitate to ask us questions. Check out our web site (www.lickingcreekbendfarm.com), which we are in the process of updating with wonderful new pictures and information.

We are excited about the new season.

Thanks for your support,

Michael, Esther, Charmaine, Justin, Lauren, Hudson, Mita Priya and Jake

Update to Extended Holiday Hours Program

District ABC licensees registered in the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration's (ABRA) Extended Holiday Hours program now gain five additional days of extended hours eligibility in 2018 and nine in 2019 due to legislation signed yesterday. On Aug. 1, Mayor Muriel Bowser signed the Fiscal Year 2019 Budget Support Emergency Act of 2018 (B22-0901) , which added the Saturday and Sunday mornings of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday, Washington's Birthday and Columbus Day holiday weekends to the program, as well as the Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings following Thanksgiving Day.

Please review ABRA's updated Extended Holiday Hours program 2018 Calendar and FAQ/Fact Sheet that reflect the changes.

The extended holiday hours program allows eligible ABC licensed restaurants, taverns, nightclubs, hotels and multipurpose facilities to sell and serve alcohol until 4 a.m. and operate 24 hours a day during certain federal holidays and three-day holiday weekends, unless an ABC Board Order or Settlement Agreement restricts hours.

Licensees are required to register with ABRA to participate . Once a licensee is registered and approved for extended holiday hours, the registration is valid for all remaining applicable holidays that year and each year thereafter.

In order to enroll in the extended holiday hours program for the first time, an ABC licensee must submit a notification form and public safety plan to ABRA at least 30 days before the first holiday an establishment would like to participate in.

There is no fee to apply.

If you have additional questions, contact ABRA at (202) 442-4423 or by email .

ABRA Licensees with Annual Payments Due: Update your Contact Info
Taverns, nightclubs and class B retailers and wholesalers that pay for liquor licenses on an annual basis are due to make payments to the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) by Monday, Oct. 1.
Payment notices will be mailed out to licensees no later than Aug. 15.
In order to receive your payment notice, please make sure that ABRA has your most updated and accurate contact information. If you have a changed mailing address, email address or phone number, please fill out and submit a contact information update form as soon as possible to let us know.
Payment may be mailed or delivered in person to ABRA's office at:
2000 14th St., NW, Suite 400 South, Washington, DC 20009
Licensing fees should be paid on time. Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 2, a late fee of $50 per day will be assessed for any late payments, which may not exceed the cost of the license.
Licensees that have questions can contact ABRA by email or by calling (202) 442-4423.
