To get businesses started, the Government of the District of Columbia will distribute a limited number of personal protective equipment (PPE) care packages for businesses eligible to open during this phase. The plan for Phase 1 and related resources can be found at

STEP ONE
: FIND YOUR ZONE
If you are a Phase 1 business looking to register for a PPE Care Package, you must know what Zone your business falls in. Your business address will determine your distribution Zone.
Phase 1 Adams Morgan BID businesses are Zone 7.

REGISTER ASAP –
REGISTRATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOUR PACKAGE
PPE Care Packages will be distributed on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis.
On the registration form linked below, please fill out the contact information for the representative of your business who will pick-up the PPE Care Package. You’ll need your business's Federal Tax ID to register.
Once you have registered, you will receive an email receipt or "ticket" from Eventbrite via email. You will need to show this ticket to receive your PPE Care Package

on Saturday, May 30 through Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm,
while supplies last. Please dress accordingly for the weather. You MUST wear closed toed shoes to pick-up your PPE supplies.

you’ve been emailed with you (on either a mobile device or printed on a sheet of paper). A volunteer will confirm your registration at the pick-up location.

to discuss options for partially or completely closing 18th Street where it passes through Adams Morgan. The proposed closure is an effort to help businesses by providing more room for outdoor seating and added space for retailers as well as providing additional space for pedestrians to maintain appropriate distances. We're committed to maintaining Adams Morgan as a clean and safe business district where pedestrians feel comfortable and businesses are able to flourish.

), here is a recap of the Q&A:

The DC DOH recommendation is that all guests should wear a mask when not eating or drinking. The restaurant can deny customers service if they refuse to wear a mask.

Many have asked if the employer can require the employee to get tested before starting work. The DC DOH recommendation is that, instead of requiring employees to be tested, employers conduct a health screening questionnaire before someone enters the facility. Temperature checks are not required, and if they are done proper protocol must be followed.

If a customer tests positive, the establishment will be contacted by contact tracers who will provide guidance to the operator.

It is recommended that you use disposable products (utensils, plates, linens, napkins), however if you opt to use reusable they must be cleaned AND disinfected after each use.
DC DOH UPDATED Protocol For If An Employee Tests Positive:

Contact DC DOH at food.safety@dc.gov, you should be prepared to close for 24-48 hours, and DC DOH will provide you with guidance on when you can reopen.

Clean and sanitize entire facility

Exclude employee who tested positive and until cleared to return by their healthcare provider and DC Health
-
Exposed employees will need to quarantine for 14-days from the time of exposure. If the employee is tested, and it comes back negative, they should still be prepared to finish quarantine for the full 14-days.

“Exposed” is defined as being within 6 ft of someone for more than 15 minutes.
Quick note: Once you have deep cleaned and sanitized your facility, and DOH has given you guidance on when to reopen (likely within 24-48 hours), you are able to resume operations with employees who have not been exposed to the employee that tested positive, if capacity allows.

Re-Open Phase One | Expanded Outdoor Service
|
Today marks the start of Phase One under Mayor Muriel Bowser’s plan to re-open DC and the first day that restaurants, taverns, private clubs, hotels, and other eligible businesses may provide table service to patrons for outdoor dining, including rooftops. Approved hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 12 midnight, seven days a week.
In addition, Mayor Bowser announced that both Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC)-licensed establishments and restaurants not serving alcohol can apply to serve as “streateries” and use expanded sidewalk space, alleys, parking lanes, and travel lanes for table seating.
Businesses can register to expand on private spaces
, including courtyards, patios, and surface parking lots. All new and expanded space must be on ground or street level.
Licensees with existing sidewalk cafes and summer gardens that plan no changes to the previously approved perimeter are not required to register under the new process and may start operations immediately. Any new or expanded spaces must be clearly delineated from any preexisting licensed space.
All businesses providing outdoor table service on licensed sidewalk cafes or summer gardens or in a new or expanded space must comply with District Department of Transportation (DDOT)-issued guidelines including seating configurations, patron queueing, and hours of operation.
There is no fee to register or participate. New and expanded dining spaces registered with DDOT and ABRA may operate through July 24, 2020. New or expanded outdoor seating is also required to operate during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 12 midnight, seven days a week.
