The beloved Adams Morgan Farmers Market is now operating at Unity Park in front of The LINE Hotel DC. Unity Park is the triangle park at the confluence of Columbia Rd., Champlain St., and Euclid St., NW. The market is celebrating its 49th year in the neighborhood. The market will be open from 8:30am - 1pm on Saturdays through Christmas.
Parking around the park will be restricted from 5am - 3pm on Saturdays for the market to allow for the vendors' trucks --
cars will be towed if they violate the parking restrictions

WMATA Approves Service & Fare Improvements
|
At the end of last week, WMATA's Board of Directors approved service and fare improvements to Metrobus and Metrorail, to encourage customers to return to transit as they return to work. Unless otherwise noted, these changes will take effect on Labor Day weekend.
Metrorail
-
More frequent all-day service, including weekends:
Trains will operate every 6 minutes on the Red Line and every 12 minutes on all other lines, seven days a week during off-peak hours (beginning September on weekdays, late 2021 on weekends).
-
Better peak service:
On weekdays, trains will operate every 5 minutes on the Red Line (beginning late 2021) and every 10 minutes on all other lines during peak hours to accommodate return to work and school.

Improved late-night service and hours:
Metrorail will extend operating hours to midnight, seven days a week (beginning July). After 9:30 p.m., late-night train frequencies will improve to every 10 minutes on the Red Line and every 15 minutes on all other lines. Operating hours will expand until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Metrobus

Increased service:
20 bus lines will operate every 12 minutes or better, 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., seven days a week.

Increased service:
16 bus lines will operate every 20 minutes or better, 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., seven days a week.

Service restored or improved on an additional 46 bus routes.
-
Metrobus expanded late-night services as of June 6th, 2021, until 2 a.m. on 36 bus routes across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
Fares

Weekends:
Flat fare of $2 on Metrorail.

Transfers:
Free bus transfers to / from rail.

Passes:
Lower 7-day Regional Bus Pass price from $15 to $12.

Payment:
Metro riders can now pay their fares and reload their smart trip card using the SmarTrip mobile app on their iPhone or Android.

Background on the RRF issue:
On Monday, the SBA sent communications to 2,965 restaurants across the country who applied in the 21-day priority group, informing them that their Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) awards will not be distributed. As you likely know, the SBA shared on Friday evening that due to a recent court case, they were forced to suspend payments to RRF grant recipients who qualified under the “priority” designation of the RESTAURANTS Act.
We know that many of the operators affected negatively by this devastating news are part of our local community in the DC Metropolitan area, given our concentration of small, independently owned businesses also owned by women, minorities, and veterans. For those operators affected, this is a major setback and is heartbreaking news after they had been notified that their applications were approved and would soon be funded.
For those immediately affected by this setback, here is what we know:
The SBA held a brief call on Monday with the operators who had been awarded but are now not receiving funding at this time due to the lawsuits. On the call, the SBA communicated their shared frustration with this situation, and their hope that this is a temporary setback. They were not able to share details of the litigation, but answered some questions for the operators in attendance.
SBA RRF Distribution Status:
As of now, SBA has funded 72,000 applications for priority group applicants, and 100,000 total applications, distributing $18 billion so far to restaurants and foodservice businesses nationwide. With what is remaining in the RRF, they are now required to fund non-priority group applications. SBA officials said they will continue to fight to maintain the program.
What Happens Next For Those in the 21-Day Priority Group:
Those in the priority group who are not receiving funding as expected will remain in the application queue. If this is true for you, you do not need to reapply or submit any additional information at this time.
If and when a bipartisan deal is reached to replenish RRF, the SBA said they will pick up where they are leaving off to fund these priority applications, as well as all of the $43 billion in application requests that currently will go unfunded, unless Congress acts to replenish the shortcoming. Just last week, bipartisan legislation was introduced that would replenish the RRF with $60 billion in sorely needed funding. RAMW, the National Restaurant Association, and many organizations and operators nationwide are advocating for Congress to move this legislation forward. While not a consolation, the SBA encourages those awaiting RRF to consider applying for an EIDL to help cover costs until RRF may begin distributing funds again. While EIDL is a loan, not a grant which of course is more appealing, the EIDL is an available and quick funding option with up to a $500,000 maximum loan amount fixed at 3.75%. It is not forgivable (like PPP) but it has a 24-month deferral period, and businesses are allowed to receive both an EIDL and an RRF award. The SBA representatives leading RRF noted that they will make themselves available to help any restaurants who would like assistance understanding and applying for the EIDL at this time. They are also working on efforts to make RRF proceeds eligible for covering any debt, including SBA debt from an EIDL.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PRELIMINARY FINDING ON THE RECERTIFICATION OF THE ADAMS MORGAN PARTNERSHIP BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 19 of the Business Improvement Districts Act of 1996, effective May 29, 1996 (D.C. Law 11-134; D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18) (“Act”), the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) will hold a public hearing on the recertification of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District.
The public hearing will be held at 2:00 pm on
Monday, June 21, 2021 in Suite 850N, 441 4th Street NW, Washington, D.C.
DSLBD Director Kristi Whitfield has informed the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District that the filing criteria set forth in D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18 have been met and their application is otherwise in conformity with the Act.
The BID application is available for review by the public during normal business hours on weekdays at 1640 Columbia Road, N.W., in the offices of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District; and by the public online at:
