RAMW'S Summer Restaurant Week: August 12 - 18

The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington's (RAMW) Summer Restaurant Week is the perfect time to consider trying a new restaurant or to revisit an old favorite, with affordable menus offered throughout the region including $35 dinner, $22 lunch, and $22 brunch options. With freshly opened restaurants in the region participating alongside celebrated dining destinations, all are invited to dig into some of the best dishes in metropolitan Washington served at a great price.

Participating Adams Morgan restaurants include Brothers and Sisters , Mintwood Place , Perry's , Roofers Union , and Spoken English .

Adams Morgan PorchFest returns on October 5!

DC's most creative music festival returns this fall with dozens of local bands. On Saturday, October 5 , we'll turn over a 16 porches and stoops into stages for the day for Adams Morgan PorchFest . In 2018, we hosted 57 performances on 16 stages, and we're already working on bringing back your favorite bands. See you there!

"Narcan and Me" workshop

The DC Prevention Center Wards 1&2 would like to invite you to attend "Narcan and Me," a workshop covering the Opioid epidemic and Narcan administration. This workshop will be facilitated by Grubb's Pharmacy, August 13th from 10am-12pm at the Adams Morgan Community Center at the LINE DC.

This event is free and all are invited, so please do share with your network including those directly impacted by the opioid crisis. Make sure to register in order to receive Narcan at the end of the training. Any questions, contact Allie at alexandrab@layc-dc.org or 202-864-4112.

Political Science convention in late August

Attention: Restaurants and Bars

The American Political Science Association will hold their annual convention at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park August 29 – September 1, 2019. The LINE DC will be among the hotels that the 7,000 attendees will be staying in. Attendees are 40% women; 60% men; age range 25 – 55 years old. 1,500 students will be in attendance. Attendees are heavy coffee drinkers and prefer grab and go options. Receptions scheduled at various hotels, Thursday, August 29 – Sunday, August 31. Attendees will continue to network after receptions and utilize hotel bars and restaurants near hotels.

Litter? Not in My DC!

As part of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s “Back to Basics” strategy to keep the District looking its best, the DC Department of Public Works (DPW) recently unveiled its new “Not in My DC” litter prevention campaign. The campaign includes ads on Metro trains, buses and bus shelters featuring notable District residents and business owners. It will also include an enforcement blitz.

Be on the lookout for new “No Litter” and “No Dumping” street signs. Encourage your neighbors to keep streets and sidewalks clean by requesting a free, “Please Be A Good Neighbor. Don’t Litter” sign for your yard. Tackling litter is going to be tough, but with your help we can trash this bad habit. Adams Morgan is home to the longest-running farmers market in the city! Visit Licking Creek Bend Farm and other vendors 8 am to 1 pm, rain or shine, at SunTrust Plaza, 18th Street and Columbia Road NW. Bring your bags and get your pluots, pears, arugula, spinach, tomatoes and more every Saturday.

PARK(ing) Day 2019

PARK(ing) Day returns to the District of Columbia on Friday, September 20, 2019, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This annual event is an opportunity for District residents and businesses to display their creativity, building pop-up parks in curbside parking spaces throughout the District's eight wards.

Initially started in San Francisco in 2005, PARK(ing) Day is an event in which residents and businesses re-think the use of public space by converting metered on-street parking spaces into temporary parks. Since its inception, the event has spread to cities around the world, taking place on the third Friday of September.
