|
The gift boxes are back this year in the plaza at the corner of Columbia Road and Adams Mill Road
, placed between the newly planted trees! We've also adorned our streetlights with ornaments and garland to get everyone in the holiday spirit!
We'll have holiday carolers out again this year to bring out the holiday cheer! The DC Circulator Winter Wonder Bus will be joining us on December 9 & 11 and will be parked across the street in front of T-Mobile.

Garland & Wreaths at the Adams Morgan Farmers Market
|
The Adams Morgan Farmers Market will have a limited amount of garland and wreaths, and may have some extra tall Christmas trees available.
The market is located in Unity Park in front of The Line Hotel DC at the corner of Columbia Road and Euclid Street, NW. and is open Saturdays from 8:30AM - 1:00PM, rain or shine through December 18.

Great Streets Grants applications open next week
|
The Request for Applications (RFA) is expected to be released by Friday, December 10.

The Great Streets Retail Small Business Grant is the hallmark grant opportunity for the Great Streets program. The grant has helped hundreds of small businesses renovate their storefront to attract new customers and drive profitability.
The purpose of the grant is to support existing small businesses, attract new businesses, and transform designated commercial corridors into thriving and inviting neighborhood centers.
Who's eligible?
Eligible applicants include the following:
-
must be located in a Great Streets Corridor
(all businesses within Adams Morgan BID boundaries are in a Great Streets Corridor)
-
for-profit entities, art- and humanities-based, & 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations
-
retail and service-oriented business
-
business owners sharing space
-
business owners who previously were awarded Great Streets funding for their original location but are opening a second or third location.
-
businesses that hold a tavern license issued by Alcohol Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) with the ability to prove via tax returns that primary revenue is not from alcohol sales

Applications Now Open for the Arts and Entertainment Venue Relief Fund & Commercial Property Acquisition Fund

The Arts and Entertainment Venue Relief Fund
will provide financial relief to arts and entertainment venues that have suffered at least a 30% loss of revenue during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. This is the second relief package following the FY21 Bridge Fund Venues Program dedicated to arts and entertainment venues, totaling $32.6 million in relief to support this industry’s recovery.
Applications opened on November 19, 2021. The deadline to apply is December 10, 2021.

The Commercial Property Acquisition Fund (CPAF)
will help entrepreneurs and small business owners who face barriers to accessing capital to purchase their properties. The fund will provide down payment assistance through grants up to $750,000 or 25% of the total acquisition cost, whichever is lower, to eligible businesses looking to maintain and expand their operations by acquiring commercial property in the District.
CPAF will be available to businesses that qualify as a Small Business Enterprise, are resident-owned, and are at least 51% owned by an individual who is, or a majority number of individuals who are economically-disadvantaged or have been subjected to racial or ethnic prejudice or cultural bias. The business must also be independently owned, have no more than 100 employees at the time of application submission, and generate less than $15 million in revenue.
Applications opened on Friday, November 19, 2021 on a rolling basis until funds are expended.

As the official destination marketing organization for the city, Destination DC (DDC) welcomes all people with open arms and are committed to showing locals and visitors alike that the District is a place that promotes and validates diversity, equity and inclusion.
DDC has worked to evaluate its efforts surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion. In addition to industry-wide efforts, it launched an internal task force and a new content strategy called The DEI District, which debuted in May 2021. DDC is now further engaging local minority-owned and small businesses.
On Nov. 1, 2021, DDC launched the
2022 DEI Business Fellowship
, a purposeful effort to reach out and support small businesses in the local community owned by people of color, LGBTQ+, women and disabled persons. This program offers complimentary marketing, mentorship, education and networking opportunities during the 2022 calendar year to help sustain and grow your businesses, specifically by reaching business and leisure travelers.

DDOT begins Columbia Rd Bus Priority Project
|
This week the DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) delivered a letter to ANC1C and other community stakeholders regarding the initiation of the Columbia Rd NW Bus Priority Project. The project perimeters are Columbia Rd between 16th St NW and Connecticut Ave NW.
The letter lays out the general approach to the project over the next 12 months and includes a request to present at the ANC 1C general and/or transportation committee meeting in March to introduce the project to the community and solicit feedback on the existing conditions of the corridor

Information Session on Accessing the Economic Injury Disaster Loan

Economic Development Specialist David Hincapie will present on the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, which closes its doors to new applicants on December 31, 2021. David will be available to answer your questions regarding EIDL, in addition to other services and programs offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
Hosted by the PFC Black Chamber, this webinar will provide important information needed to help small businesses survive and thrive in today's ever-changing environment.

Monday, December 6 at 10:30 a.m.
The Fire Prevention and Winter Heating Information Session, co-hosted by the District’s Fire and EMS Department (FEMS), will introduce alcohol license holders to best practices, statutory requirements, and District Government resources for fire prevention and permissible heating both indoors and the areas surrounding their establishment.
Specific topics to be covered include:

Fire inspections in clubs, bars, and restaurants

New and Improved 'Shop in the District' website
|
The enhanced
Shop in the District website
, a virtual shopping initiative launched in 2020 to encourage shoppers to support small local DC retailers during the pandemic and beyond. Shop in the District combines the power of a digital platform directory, a local delivery pilot, and technical assistance to support revenue generation for DC’s small businesses.
Ramping up in time for the holidays, the Shop in the District website makes it easier for shoppers to connect with their favorite neighborhood retailers, find great products, and get great deals. On the site, visitors can find stores and products from all wards by category, by neighborhood, and by affiliation using an advanced filtering feature. And now, for the first time ever, visitors can see special promotions by select retailers.
Through continued partnership with local delivery services, NEAR.delivery, select DC retailers will offer same-day delivery for residents, allowing shoppers to get the same convenience that they’ve become accustomed to without having to deal with the expected package delays.
To ensure underserved businesses are able to take advantage of the Shop in the District initiative, Mayor Bowser and WDCEP will also provide minority- and women-owned businesses with free training and mentorship to establish and amplify their digital presence.
