Taste Your Way Through Adams Morgan This Weekend

Carpe DC Food Tours and the Adams Morgan Partnership are thrilled to host the Flavors of AdMo Food Crawl this Saturday, September 29 from 11 am-5 pm to celebrate the rich diversity found in Adams Morgan. This self-guided culinary excursion takes adventurers around the world in one afternoon, where participants can sample food from restaurants both new to the neighborhood and longstanding. PorchFest Returns October 6 with 44 Bands

PorchFest returns October 6, bringing more than 44 bands to 16 porches and stoops throughout Adams Morgan. The Envoys (voted favorite band in last year’s contest) will kick off the afternoon at 2 pm at event headquarters, SunTrust Plaza at 18th Street and Columbia Road NW. Attendees can pick up a map, then stroll around the neighborhood for nonstop musical performances until 6 pm. Another performer of note is Washington Post cartoonist Tom Toles, who will be performing with three different bands: The Ghosts You Know (rockabilly pop), Tom's Joint (jazz), and G.O.A.T. Bee's Knees Week Ends Sunday at Roofers Union + Jug & Table

Roofers Union and sister wine bar Jug & Table team up with Barr Hill Gin to celebrate Bee’s Knees Week and raise funds for The Bee Cause Project. During the week, $1 from every Bees in the Monastery punch bowl sold at Roofers Union and every Bee’s Knees cocktail sold at Jug & Table will be donated to the organization. Sustainable Commute Challenge Panel Oct. 11

Are you interested in smarter, more sustainable commuting? DC has set a goal in its sustainability plan for 25% of trips to happen by walk and bike (and scooter?). Tax Rate Changes Take Effect October 1

Taverns, nightclubs and class B retailers and wholesalers that pay for liquor licenses on an annual basis are due to make payments to the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) by Monday, Oct. 1. Payment may be mailed or delivered in person to ABRA's office at 2000 14th St., NW, Suite 400 South, Washington, DC 20009. Notices were mailed no later than Aug. 15, so if you did not receive a notice or have questions, contact abc@dc.gov or (202) 442-4423.

ABC Hearing About the Adams Morgan Moratorium Oct. 3

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board rescheduled its public hearing concerning the Adams Morgan Moratorium Zone for this Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 11 am. The hearing will be held on the fourth floor of 2000 14th Street, NW. The existing moratorium was set to expire in August, but the Board kept the moratorium in place while it considers comments from the public. Testify at the hearing or submit written comments by October 12, 2018 to abra.legal@dc.gov .

Trash Compactor Grant Applications Due Dec. 7

Have you always dreamed about a trash compactor in your business? The DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is seeking grant applications for demonstration projects that help DC businesses install commercial waste compactors, which reduce sanitation and rodent issues in the District’s commercial corridors.
