1) Meeting with DC Water (formerly WASA) - Tuesday April 5 at 3 PM

If your business or property is on 18th Street between Florida Avenue and Columbia Road, by now you should have received a letter from DC Water (formerly WASA) about their plans to replace water mains during the 18th Street Reconstruction Project and your options for having the private portion of your water main replaced.

We have scheduled a meeting with DC Water engineers to answer questions you may have about this. They will also be able to answer questions about sewer lines.

2) Important update on 18th Street Streetscape Construction

The contractors have indicated that they plan to work this Saturday, April 2, between the hours of 7:00am to 3:30pm, weather permitting, behind closed barriers.

Scope of work as follows:

1) Installation of 12" water line, on 18th St, from Florida Ave to California St,
2) Pressure test 12" water line at Florida Ave, EB,
3) Excavation of street car track at 18th St and California St, past intersection only.

The no parking (for traffic management and marked with metal No Parking signs) on the west side of 18th Street between Florida Avenue and the alley north of California Street (before Wyoming Avenue) and also between California and Florida Avenue on the east side of 18th Street for active construction will continue until approximately June 2011. This will be contained behind jersey walls.

3) MetroBus Routes - 18th Street relocations

On Metrobus routes 90, 92, 93, 96, L2 and X3, due to roadway reconstruction on 18th Street, NW, bus stops may be impacted and be subjected to closure between Florida Avenue to Columbia Road.

Please pay attention to any signs announcing closure and where to board the nearest bus and be safe in construction zones while waiting for Metrobus routes. This is in effect immediately until June 30, 2012.

Stop closures are in effect at the following locations until June 30, 2011 at the minimum:

* U Street, NW and Florida Avenue NW (westbound) – board buses at 18th Street NW and U Street NW

* 18th Street, NW and California Street, NW (northbound) – board buses at 18th Street and T Street, NW

4) Very Cherry AdMo PopUp Shop - runs from March 27th through April 16

The “Very Cherry AdMo Pop Up Shop ” opened on Sunday March 27th and is located in the heart of Adams Morgan at 2421 18th Street, NW. It is a temporary urban shop and exhibit venue where both visitors and locals can find unique items. This colorful, multicultural neighborhood business district hosts original art, and crafts from March 27 – April 16 for 21 consecutive days & eves; including 4 weekends.

There are quite a few more events coming up. The Very Cherry AdMo Pop-Up Shop will host:

TONIGHT March 31: Planet Pet hosts Animal trivia and gift certificates from 4:30pm – 7:00pm. Urban Sustainable will be talking about their store as well. Come by – Planet Pet is bringing Hot Chocolate! Free
