DDOT Extends Public Comment Period for Proposed DC Circulator Service Upgrades
|
DC Circulator’s mission is to deliver affordable, comfortable, and efficient bus service that connects people to business, culture, and entertainment throughout the District.
To support this mission, DC Circulator adopted its first Transit Development Plan in 2011 and has since regularly updated it every three years. The most recent version, the 2020 Transit Development Plan, is available now for public comment.

The beloved Adams Morgan Farmers Market is now operating at Unity Park in front of The LINE Hotel DC. Unity Park is the triangle park at the confluence of Columbia Rd., Champlain St., and Euclid St., NW. The market is celebrating its 49th year in the neighborhood. The market will be open from 8:30am - 1pm on Saturdays through Christmas.
Parking around the park will be restricted from 5am - 3pm on Saturdays for the market to allow for the vendors' trucks --
cars will be towed if they violate the parking restrictions

Late-Night Metrobus Service Expands, Additional Service Restored Starting Sunday
|
Beginning Sunday, June 6, Metro customers who need to get to work or home late at night will have more options when Metrobus extends late-night service on dozens of bus lines throughout the District, Maryland and Virginia. Buses on 36 of Metro’s busiest routes will operate until 2 a.m., seven days a week, providing a vital link for those that depend on public transit.
The return of late-night bus service coincides with the region’s pandemic recovery as Covid-19 restrictions are lifted and the region prepares to fully reopen. In addition, Metro will add more frequent service and restore more routes as part of service improvements to more than 60 routes. The service changes will increase Metrobus service to approximately 85 percent of pre-pandemic levels.

Greater Voice: Small Business Owners Working Group Meeting

Wednesday, June 16 at 8:30 am
In this meeting, the group will have an opportunity to debrief as a follow up to the meeting with DCRA about their Contractor Rating System. There will also be a review and discussion of the recently introduced Clean Hands Certification Equity Amendment Act of 2021 and the Protecting Local Area Commercial Enterprises Amendment Act of 2021 (PLACE). This legislation will establish a legacy business assistance program to provide a commercial lease renewal process and financial assistance to landlords and eligible legacy businesses by creating grants of up to $50,000 a year for businesses operating for at least 10 years as well as an opportunity for a tax abatement.

SBA to open Targeted EIDL Advance cash grant to all eligible businesses soon
|
The Small Business Administration will open its $25 billion Targeted Economic Injury Disaster Loan Advance grant program to millions more small businesses in the coming days.
SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman said in an interview with The Business Journals that the dramatic expansion of the program could come early this month. Until recently, the Targeted EIDL Advance and the Supplemental Advance were by invitation only and open only to small businesses that applied for an EIDL.
The agency has already sent more than 500,000 emails to businesses that applied for an EIDL after Dec. 27, but soon it will throw open the doors to every small business that meets the eligibility criteria — namely being in a low-income area and having seen a significant drop in revenue over the course of Covid-19.

SBA launches the Community Navigator Pilot Program
|
Recently the U.S. Small Business Administration launched the
Community Navigator Pilot Program
, a $100 million grant program enacted through the American Rescue Plan Act, which will provide counseling, networking and the assistance needed during this time of economic recovery to the nation’s smallest businesses. The program will target small businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, as well as women and veterans.
The SBA will engage with states, local governments, SBA resource partners, and other organizations in targeted outreach efforts. These partners and people in the community are key to this pilot program as they will serve as a two-way information stream, enabling enterprising business owners to receive the help needed from the SBA.

Mayor Kicks Off Disparity Study
|
Mayor Bowser and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) have launched a citywide disparity study to examine the availability and utilization of minority-owned businesses under DC procurement and contracting activities. The study, a Joint Venture (JV) comprising BBC Research and Consulting and two Certified Business Enterprises (CBEs), Pantera Management and Tiber Hudson, will collect and analyze four years of contracting data (FY17-FY20) over the next year.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PRELIMINARY FINDING ON THE RECERTIFICATION OF THE ADAMS MORGAN PARTNERSHIP BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 19 of the Business Improvement Districts Act of 1996, effective May 29, 1996 (D.C. Law 11-134; D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18) (“Act”), the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) will hold a public hearing on the recertification of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District.
The public hearing will be held at 2:00 pm on
Monday, June 21, 2021 in Suite 850N, 441 4th Street NW, Washington, D.C.
DSLBD Director Kristi Whitfield has informed the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District that the filing criteria set forth in D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18 have been met and their application is otherwise in conformity with the Act.
The BID application is available for review by the public during normal business hours on weekdays at 1640 Columbia Road, N.W., in the offices of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District; and by the public online at:
