AMPBID Board meets on March 12 at 5 PM

The next meeting of the AMPBID Board of Directors is March 12th at 5 pm at the MPD Third District Headquarters - 1620 V Street, NW in the Snyder Conference room on the first floor.

We will be joined by Councilmember David Grosso who was elected to the Council of the District of Columbia as an At-large Councilmember on November 6, 2012, to represent residents in all eight wards. David brings a wealth of experience having worked with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton and former Councilmember Sharon Ambrose, in addition to his experience in the private sector.

David Grosso is a native Washingtonian. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Earlham College and holds a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University.

We look forward to meeting David and hearing about the plans he has for his work on DC Council. Please think of questions you would like to ask him before the meeting.

Reminder: Sidewalk Cafe hours to be discussed - March 13th at 7 PM

If you have a sidewalk cafe permit or are planning to apply for a public space permit for a sidewalk cafe, please plan on attending the ANC's meeting on March 13th at 7 pm at the Kalorama Recreation Center on Columbia Road, NW. The beginning of the meeting is dedicated to hearing from MPD and their Third District officers. After that there will be a discussion about sidewalk cafe hours.  Thanks.

Colonial Parking Garage has a free Iphone app to help you find a parking place

Drivers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area can now enjoy the ability to locate instantly available parking at the touch of a finger with the introduction of Colonial’s new website location finder map and mobile app for iPhone. This custom-built application, powered by ParkMe ( www.parkme.com ) gives Colonial customers access to ParkMe’s branded mobile apps and its distribution network of GPS and navigation providers.

ParkMe allows the data from Colonial’s 250 locations to be streamed to mobile apps, in-car navigation systems and GPS devices. ParkMe’s system provides drivers crucial parking information, such as rates, entrance points and even real-time occupancy.

Studies show that urban congestion is directly related to the search for parking. Drivers ultimately will be able to eliminate the need to circle the block and double-park, keeping the roads clear for other drivers.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Marathon & CareFirst Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Half

Marathon is coming up on Saturday, March 16 . Informational door

hangers will be distributed to residents, businesses and organizations

along the route.

Visit their website to view an interactive course map and download

PDF versions of the course map and road closure times. If your

business is along the route, please share this information with your

employees. The route is slightly different than previous years.

The runners will come up Connecticut Avenue and turn right on

Calvert Street and over the bridge to Columbia Road this year. The

first runners are expected to be at Columbia Road and 18th Street,

NW by 8:05 am and the last runners will be at Columbia Road and

16th Streets, NW by 10:30 am. There will not be a spectator stand

with music or entertainment in the SunTrust Bank plaza. That has

been moved to Calvert Street/Duke Ellington Bridge.

You’re invited to get involved with this exciting event. Spectators are

encouraged to line the route to cheer tens of thousands of athletes

towards the finish line. Volunteers are still needed at the Expo and on

Race Day. Please sign up online .

Sober Ride program begins again on Sunday March 17th

Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP)’s 2013 St. Patrick’s Day SoberRide is s cheduled to run on Sunday, March 17, 2013 (St. Patrick’s Day), from 4:00pm to 4:00am on Monday, March 18, 2013.

We will be distributing posters and cards in the next couple weeks to remind Adams Morgan patrons about the program.

WRAP’s SoberRide program is one of the nation’s most successful free cab rides programs for would-be impaired drivers. However, prevention is essential for keeping our highways safe during high-risk holidays.

WRAP’s Safe And Vital Employees (SAVE) program is available free of cost to area businesses.  This 45-minute, customized presentation will inform employees about the physical, economic and legal consequences of impaired driving.
