1) Adams Morgan PorchFest - October 18th from 3 to 7 pm
Adams Morgan's deep musical heritage stretches from legendary jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd's appearances at the Showboat (and beyond) to the eclectic range of styles that can be heard here today. PorchFest celebrates local talent by turning the front stoops and porches of more than a dozen Adams Morgan homes and businesses into performance spaces where local musicians will play for the community -- and for free! The sounds will be spread throughout the streets of the neighborhood, making the stunning architecture there the backdrop as you follow your ears from house to house.
On October 18, 2014 from 3 to 7 pm, the stoops and porches of 15 Adams Morgan residences and businesses will serve as temporary stages for local musicians to share their talent (for free) with anyone who happens to be walking by. “Adams Morgan has a rich musical heritage, and many of our residents are working musicians -- PorchFest is a family friendly way to share their talent with the community,” says Kristen Barden of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. Inspired by a similar effort in Somerville, MA and Takoma Park, MD.
Maps will be available in the BB&T Bank plaza on Saturday October 18th.
This is a joint project with Cultural Tourism DC and will bookend Art4All DC - One City, Four Quadrants, Activated with Arts: A Festival of Festivals taking place September 26th through October 18th.

DDOT will PAY your staff to come in early to accept deliveries

Yes that's right.
In early 2015, District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be
launching an Off-Hours Delivery (OHD) Pilot project. The intent of the OHD
Pilot project is to increase off-hour deliveries with the goal of reducing
congestion, improving quality of life, and increasing the efficiency of urban
deliveries.
By switching to off-hours deliveries your business will:
* Have more time available to spend with customers, instead of waiting
for a delivery to arrive;
* Receive on-time deliveries all the time. Your supplies will be there
waiting when you open your business in the morning; and
* Increase the reliability of your deliveries. It is much harder to be
delayed due to traffic or lack of parking when you're not traveling
during rush hour!
A financial incentive will be available to participants in the program,
more information about the grants will be available in early 2015. To learn

Money Smart for Small Business Workshop: Financial Management & Credit Reporting for Small Businesses
If you are interested in learning how to best run your business, you should attend a workshop the DCRA Small Business Resource Center is conducting using the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's (FDIC) Money Smart for Small Business curriculum modules.
During this session, representatives from Branch Banking & Trust (BB&T) will assist individuals with a better understanding of Financial Management and Credit Reporting.
After completing this module, you will be able to:
Understand the essentials of financial management Apply financial management practices, rules, and tools most relevant for small businesses Prepare for common business financing needs: start-up finance, working capital, and fixed asset loans

Circulator Bus Semi-Annual Open House - October 20th

, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host the DC Circulator Semiannual Open House. The open house will be held
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at
Pinstripes
(1064 Wisconsin Ave NW)
, which can be accessed via the Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn and Georgetown-Union Station Circulator routes.
At the open house, DDOT will present current operations and performance, solicit feedback from riders, and present information about the Circulator’s Draft 2014 Transit Development Plan (TDP).
Transit Development Plan Update
Every three years the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) updates the Circulator Transit Development Plan or TDP. The effort to update the TDP began in early 2014. DDOT engaged the public in spring 2014 through a series of Pop-Up events around the District. Pop-Ups were located near the NoMa-Gallaudet, Southwest-Waterfront, Eastern Market, and Anacostia Metrorail stations, the Reeves Center, and Georgetown. An online survey was also available for to the public to provide feedback.
These Pop-ups reached well over 1,000 residents and Circulator riders to gain feedback on existing service, possible service expansion, and potential new routes. The public feedback was vital to the system plan and now we want to hear your comments on the Draft TDP.
For the first time, the Circulator’s Draft TDP will be available for public comment. For the next 30 days, you can provide comments and feedback about the plan. Did we miss anything? How is Circulator performing? What would you like to see next from Circulator?
