Summer Concert Series continu es with shows on Saturday and Monday!

Our Summer Concert Series is back on Saturday, June 3 with returning favorite Jelly Roll Mortals, and then we'll have a special Monday evening show featuring The Airport 77s!

The concerts take place on Saturday afternoons through May and June in front of BB&T Bank at the corner of Columbia Rd. and 18th St., NW. There will be a special show on Monday evening, June 5 that will start at 6pm, but otherwise, all shows will go from 5 - 7pm.

Adams Morgan Movie Nights continues on 6/6 with Rogue One

**New Location for 2017: Walter Pierce Park Soccer Field**

**The 5/23 showing of Grease was rained out and has been rescheduled for June 20 and the 5/30 showing of Snowden was also rained out and has tentatively been rescheduled for June 27**

Adams Morgan Movie Nights returns this year with an eclectic lineup of movies and plenty of fun for the whole family. Due to construction at Marie Reed School, we've been forced to temporarily relocate the film series to Walter Pierce Park this year, but we'll return to Marie Reed for 2018. Walter Pierce Park is located at 2630 Adams Mill Rd. with an alternate entrance adjacent to Mama Ayesha’s near the foot of the Duke Ellington Bridge on Calvert Street.

BicycleSPACE will be there securing your bikes and giving you maintenance tips so pedal on down.

We will be giving away free cookies again this week, and we've arranged for a larger allotment from our friends at Insomnia Cookies to help keep up with demand. We're going to start distributing the cookies at 7:30 at the double-gate on the west end of the field (closest to Rock Creek). If you want a cookie, you must enter through that gate. Also, anyone arriving while the preceding soccer game is still going on should use that gate to minimize any disruptions to their game.

Movies start approximately 30 minutes after sunset. Kids are welcome, but no alcohol or pets please.

The Adams Morgan Farmers Market returns Saturday!

The market is open from June 3 through December 23 at 18th Street and Columbia Road, 8:00am - 1:00pm, rain or shine featuring the Licking Creek Bend Farm, Star Hollow Farm, Remi's Flowers and Plants, Girardot's Crumb Bakery, and Groff's Content Farm (meats and cheeses).


Licking Creek Bend Farm will feature, among other early seasonal goodies, pesticide-free GARLIC SCPAPES, 10 varieties of HERBS, SCALLIONS, KALE and SWEET STRAWBERRIES. Pesticide-free Strawberries have a very short season, so come and enjoy while you can.

They look forward to seeing you this Saturday and every Saturday throughout the season.

Kalorama Park Community Day 2017: Saturday June 3

The 2nd Annual Kalorama Park Community Day celebration is coming up on Saturday, June 3 from 11:00 am – 3:30 pm! The Fund for Kalorama Park is aiming to build on the success of last year’s event, this year with even more fun activities, entertainers, and local businesses and organizations. Fund for Kalorama Park Fundraiser

The Fund for Kalorama Park, a 501(c)(3), is launching a fundraiser to be able to continue and enhance care for this amazing space and community hub. They are seeking to raise at least $18,000 for 2017 to be used for:

  • A wood sculpture to be carved from the stumps of the two beautiful oak trees that were lost in the center of the park
  • Ongoing park maintenance (bench upkeep, pavement repairs, improved fencing)
  • Improved landscaping (mulching, edging, cleaning, new plants, lawn care)

Bike to Work Day 2017 Breaks Records

According to the Metropolitan Council of Government, this year’s Bike to Work Day (BTWD) set a new record with 18,700 registered participants -- including over 650 right here in Adams Morgan -- riding to work across the Washington metropolitan region. Thank you to everyone who helped the region achieve this record-breaking number!

BTWD is an annual event that celebrates bicycling as a fun, healthy, and fast way to get around town and to work! Everyone, from first-time riders to seasoned bicyclists, came together to share resources and be a part of a community that supports sustainable transportation options.

Hello to DC's business community!

Here in DC, we value the diversity of our residents, visitors, and employees, and we know you do, too. However, navigating your legal obligations under DC's civil rights laws can sometimes be difficult even with the best of intentions. Last year, over $3.89 million was awarded to civil rights complainants through our mediation program, but many cases could have been avoided by better knowledge of the law. That's why we're pleased to offer a free training series for DC's business owners, supervisors, HR managers, customer service staff, and housing providers in order to discuss some best practices on following the laws. Here's a list of our upcoming trainings:

  • Overview of Civil Rights Laws for Employers
  • Criminal Background Checks in the Hiring Process
  • Understanding Source of Income & Fair Housing
  • Customer Service & Civil Rights Laws
  • Reasonable Accommodations in the Workplace
