A public meeting will be held to provide updates on the Adams Morgan Streetscape Project as activity moves north into the area between Kalorama Rd. NW and Columbia Rd.

Streetscape relief is on its way + Enterprise Zone Resources for small businesses

The DC Deparment of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) just published their "Notice of Final Rulemaking" that describes the benefit provided to qualified businesses financially adversely affected
by streetscape construction or rehabilitation projects throughout the District of Columbia and have established rule to issue no interest loans
from the Streetscape Loan Relief Fund.

DSLBD will soon schedule information sessions on how to apply for these funds in each neighborhood affected by streetscape construction. Please stay tuned for the date/location in Adams Morgan.

Also just in case you don't already know about this....

The Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) has qualified Adams Morgan as an "Enterprise Zone".  The Enterprise Zone (EZ) program offers these benefits:

* Employee Tax Credits-up to $3,000 for each DC resident employee (full or part-time)

* Work Opportunity Credits-up to $2,400 for each employee from targeted demographic groups

* Welfare to Work Credits-up to $3,500 and $5,000 for the first and second years of employment, respectively, for workers receiving long-term family assistance

* EZ Bonds-Tax Exempt Bond Financing-up to $15 million in below-market interest rate loans (as much as 200 basis points below the market rate)

* Exclusion of Capital Gains from DC Zone Assets-eliminates capital gain in gross income from qualified property sale or exchange (properties must be held more than 5 years).

New businesses opening in Adams Morgan

We are pleased to welcome ANOTHER THREE new businesses which just opened in Adams Morgan! Great things are happening!

1) Game Stop at 1759 Columbia Road, NW opened yesterday at 5 PM. They are open from 10 am to 7 pm Monday th rough Saturday and 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays. Their website is: gamestop.com

Halloween Haunted House at MPD's Third District and request for assistance

In keeping with the philosophy of community policing, The Metropolitan Police Department hosts annual events at each district station. The Third District Station located at 1620 V St NW is hosting another Haunted House this year on October 31 from 6 to 8 pm.

They are looking for volunteers and donations to make this year's haunted house the best one yet!  MPD relies heavily on residential and commercial donations to make it a success.

They are looking for a DJ, decorations, candy, individuals to help staff the haunted house and assist as needed for the event. They are hoping to start putting the haunted house together this week.

As always they are appreciative of the community's past support and look forward to assistance again this year.
