Adams Morgan PorchFest is Saturday!!
This year we have 44 bands performing on 16 porches! It all kicks off with a special opening performance by Batala -- the all-female ensemble of Afro-Brazilian percussion -- at 1:30pm with music on porches starting at 2:00pm all over Adams Morgan.
The Annual Meeting of the AMPBID will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017
at 5pm, at the Festival Center at 1640 Columbia Road, NW.
AMPBID Annual Meeting Election Process
At the October 10th Annual Meeting, BID members will have the opportunity to vote for candidates for 5 board slots: three property owners and two business owners.
Voting
Per the by-laws, any properties for which BID taxes are over 60 days delinquent, may not vote nor may they nominate members to the board.
For each class of member, the ballot will list all the candidate names, and members will vote for the number of open slots in that category. For example, there are two business owner slots. All members will have the opportunity to vote for two candidates from the list of all business owner candidates.
Proxies
Proxy votes are allowed.
Pursuant to the BID bylaws, those interested in voting in the board elections by proxy can either contact the BID to request a proxy form, or can develop their own form, as long as it includes: the date of the meeting at which it is applicable (October 10) full names, addresses and the dated signatures of both the individual issuing the proxy and the witness(es) to the signature. The proxy voter can be anyone to whom the property or business owner designates to vote for them and DOES NOT have to be a member of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. All proxy forms must meet all these criteria to be accepted.
The BID will have a proxy form available by mail and by email, or they can be picked up at the AMPBID office at 1640 Columbia Rd., NW by appointment.

Adams Morgan Farmers Market on Saturday
The market is open on Saturdays through December 23 at 18th Street and Columbia Road, 8:00am - 1:00pm, rain or shine, featuring the Licking Creek Bend Farm, Star Hollow Farm, Remi's Flowers and Plants, Girardot's Crumbs Bakery, and Groff's Content Farm (meats and cheeses).

Show off your apple pie baking skills by competing against your neighbors; and if that's not enough motivation, the farmers market will provide free apples for contestants to use in their pies. We'll have a panel of local celebrities judging, and the winners (there will be winners in four categories) will each receive a 2-week CSA membership.

WRAP's 2017 Halloween SoberRide Campaign
WRAP’s 2017 Halloween SoberRide campaign is scheduled to run from 10:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28th until 4:00 a.m. Sunday, October 29th, 2017.
WRAP’s SoberRide program is one of the nation’s most successful free safe rides programs for potentially impaired drivers. However, prevention is essential for keeping our highways safe during high-risk holidays. If your organization needs an alcohol awareness presentation, WRAP’s Safe And Vital Employees (SAVE) program is available free of cost to you. This 45-minute, customized presentation will inform employees and/or military personnel about the physical, economic and legal consequences of impaired driving.

New DOEE regulations will impact local businesses and organizations
As part of the District’s waste reduction and water pollution prevention goals, the District now has one master list of materials that can be recycled. Since January 1, 2017, businesses and organizations that sell or serve food or beverages in the District have been required to only use
recyclable or compostable food service ware
consistent with the list. DC's
Department of Energy & Environment
(DOEE) will start enforcing these regulations January 1, 2018. Businesses and residents must also recycle according to the
Mayor’s List of Recyclables and Compostables
effective January 1, 2018.
In an effort to assist businesses and organizations with food service ware compliance, DOEE is working closely with DPW to conduct outreach campaigns in commercial corridors across the District.
Throughout the fall, teams from DOEE will be meeting with business owners, employees and volunteers—door to door and face to face-- to answer any questions they may have about the requirements, receive feedback about the changes, and share materials with details about the guidelines.
