Summer Concert Series continues Saturday!

It's getting to be that time of year and AMPBID is hosting our Summer Concert Series again continuing on Saturday with returning favorite Oxymorons. The concerts will take place on Saturday afternoons through May and June in front of BB&T Bank at the corner of Columbia Rd. and 18th St., NW. There will be a special show on Monday evening, June 5 that will start at 6pm, but otherwise, all shows will go from 5 - 7pm.

Adams Morgan Movie Nights kick off on 5/16 with Moana

**New Location for 2017: Walter Pierce Park Soccer Field**

Adams Morgan Movie Nights will return on May 16 with an eclectic lineup of movies and plenty of fun for the whole family. Due to construction at Marie Reed School, we've been forced to temporarily relocate the film series to Walter Pierce Park this year, but we'll return to Marie Reed for 2018. Walter Pierce Park is located at 2630 Adams Mill Rd. with an alternate entrance adjacent to Mama Ayesha’s near the foot of the Duke Ellington Bridge on Calvert St.

Movies start approximately 30 minutes after sunset. Kids are welcome, but no alcohol or pets please.

Bike To Work Day (BTWD) pit stop location change & registration information

Due to a schedule change in construction at Unity Park, we are relocating the Adams Morgan BTWD Pit Stop to BB&T Bank Plaza at the corner of 18th St. & Columbia Rd.

Registration for Bike to Work Day 2017 is now open! On Friday, May 19th, Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association invite you to celebrate bicycling as a clean, fun and healthy way to get to work. Riders who register for this free event will become eligible for raffle prizes and receive a free t-shirt to commemorate the event.

AMPBID will host a pit stop at BB&T Bank Plaza (in front of BB&T Bank at the corner of 18th St. & Columbia Rd.) from 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Farm visit day: Sunday May 21

Meet our amazing staff, tour the farm, see our farm equipment, plant or pick your Christmas tree, share a veggie pot luck, swim in the creek, meet neighbors and enjoy a day in the country. Bring bathing suits and towels.

  • 10:00 am workshop on GROWING PESTICIDE-FREE CHRISTMAS TREES, please RSVP to esiegel2@igc.org. We'll start right at 10:00am.
  • 11:00 am , we'll focus on how we grow our FRUIT TREES without chemical pesticides (using edge-of-forest/carbon sequestration approach).
  • 11:30 am , we'll discuss ORGANIC NO-TILL VEGETABLE GROWING METHODS AND MACHINERY, along with our first year results.
  • 12:00 noon , we'll TOUR OUR FIELDS, MACHINERY and discuss CARBON SEQUSTRATION TECHNIQUES AND HEAVY COVER CROPPING, including the elimination of PVC plastic (over 1 ton two years ago!).
  • 1:00 pm we'll have enjoy a POT LUCK lunch and meet each other. Bring a veggie dish to share, your own reusable dishes, cups & silverware.
  • 2:00 pm , you can walk around the farm, swim in the creek and generally enjoy the day in the country.

Jubilee Jobs Benefit Dinner

The Jubilee Jobs Benefit Committee invites you to the 24th Annual Benefit Dinner on Tuesday, June 6th, 2017.

We are delighted to have Marcus Bullock, Advocate and Entreprenuer, as our speaker. Marcus is a justics reform advocate, public speaker, and entrepreneur. Following his 2004 release from prison, he launched a painting company and is now CEO of Perspectives Premier Contractors, which employs other returning citizens. Bullock is also founder and CEO of Flikshop, a free app that enables incarcerated people to receive mail and postcards, and the Flikshop School of Business, a program that teaches incarcerated youth life skills and entrepreneurship.

The 5th Annual Taste of Adams Morgan is just around the corner! Shine a spotlight on your restaurant’s culinary talents on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, from 5-9pm.

Taste of Adams Morgan will draw 650 guests to the neighborhood to delight in tastings that showcase each restaurant’s unique cuisine. Guests will pre-purchase tickets that can be redeemed at participating restaurants and, in doing so will support the vital healthcare, social services, and education programs Mary’s Center (2333 Ontario Road in Adams Morgan and other locations through the city) provides to the community.

Kalorama Park Community Day 2017!

The 2nd Annual Kalorama Park Community Day celebration is coming up on Saturday, June 3 from 11:00 am – 3:30 pm! The Fund for Kalorama Park is aiming to build on the success of last year’s event, this year with even more fun activities, entertainers, and local businesses and organizations. Fund for Kalorama Park Fundraiser

The Fund for Kalorama Park, a 501(c)(3), is launching a fundraiser to be able to continue and enhance care for this amazing space and community hub. They are seeking to raise at least $18,000 for 2017 to be used for:

  • A wood sculpture to be carved from the stumps of the two beautiful oak trees that were lost in the center of the park
  • Ongoing park maintenance (bench upkeep, pavement repairs, improved fencing)
  • Improved landscaping (mulching, edging, cleaning, new plants, lawn care)

DC Arts Center is pleased to announce an open call for submissions of artwork by artists who live, work, or have a studio in Adams Morgan for an exhibition to take place at DCAC from June 2 through June 18. The exhibition will be curated by DCAC Board Member and art collector Philip Barlow.

  • Artist Statement

Eligibility and Terms

  • Submissions will be accepted through Submittable at the link above.
  • Artists working in all media are welcome to apply.
  • All artwork submitted must be completed and ready to install.
  • Artists may submit up to ten images for consideration. These may be individual works or works in a series.
  • Artists wishing to submit video must submit work by providing a link to a video or video excerpt on a video sharing site (Vimeo, YouTube, etc) or their own website. The link should go directly to the specific video.
  • Artists whose videos are selected for the exhibition will need to loan equipment on which to display the work.

Selected artists must be available to drop their work off at DC Arts Center on Wednesday, May 31 and pick it up on Tuesday, June 20. If an artist is not available, they can send someone else to drop off or pick up the work, but must notify DCAC in advance.
