Adams Morgan Day Returns on Sunday!
|
For over 40 years, Adams Morgan Day has been a family-friendly celebration with music, art and activities for all ages. Adams Morgan Day is planned entirely by volunteers, and as Washington, DC’s longest running neighborhood festival, we welcome residents and visitors alike to meet our neighborhood businesses, artists, and service organizations.
Last year brought you the first-ever all-virtual Adams Morgan Day, and this year the festival returns with a mix of in-person activities and vendors as well as virtual events for this year’s festival on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

The AMPBID team will be out with a tent & table set up and will have giveaways and info about the neighborhood. We'll also be selling some of our old streetlight banners for $5 each, so if you want to hang a piece of neighborhood history on your wall or maybe even upcycle it into something special, come see us in the plaza in front of Marie Reed School.

|
Don't miss the Carpe Librum in Adams Morgan Book Festival on Sunday, September 12th from 10am-5pm at the corner of 18th Street and Columbia Road NW (SunTrust Plaza)! Browse thousands of high-quality, gently-used books, CDs, DVDs, and vinyl records - all on sale for under $6. Carpe Librum is a donation-based used bookstore benefiting the DC nonprofit Turning the Page.

Hospitality Employers Recruitment 2021

The
Adams Morgan Partnership BID
is happy to announce the partnership with the
DC Department of Employment Services
(DOES), and the
Back to Work DC
campaign to support the Adams Morgan BID businesses and their workforce needs. This program was specifically designed to assist our BID’s businesses with filling their immediate staffing needs.
The Back to Work DC campaign was launched in response to the District’s unemployment rate, which is affecting thousands of DC workers. This initiative allows employers to connect directly with pre-screened, job-ready candidates to address the growing employer demand for qualified workers.
By sharing open positions with DOES using the link below, businesses will receive assistance with job postings on the DC Networks system, as well as active assistance from a DOES staff member to find qualified candidates.
Back to Work DC - Hospitality Recruitment Summer 2021 (Employer Registration)
(note: the form asks for a participation date -- leave it set to the pre-selected "TBD" choice)
An overview of this program is below.
STEP 1: Business Registration and Job Posting:

Register the business with the program and list all available job postings. There is no charge for the program, and employers will be able to easily enter job postings in the job posting summary area provided. Registered employers will receive a confirmation email as a guide through the next steps.
STEP 2: DOES Targeted Recruitment:
-
DOES recruitment specialists will review hiring needs and refer a list of individuals with resumes, work skills and experience. Employers should anticipate candidate referrals within ten (10) business days.
STEP 3: Interview/Hiring:
-
Upon selection of candidates of the employer’s choice, employers will be able to set-up individual interviews, virtual or in-person, with the selected candidates to fill open positions.

Asian Americans in DC: Here in Plain Sight
|
Meeps Vintage
is proud to collaborate with the 1882 Foundation and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival to kick off on Sunday, September 12 (Adams Morgan Day) a very special installation that recognizes the history of Asian Americans in our D.C. communities, highlighting Adams Morgan, Mt. Pleasant, and Columbia Heights. LES THE DJ will spin an all-vinyl set of Asian and AAPI artists.
The installation will continue through the end of September.

September AMPBID Board Meeting
|
The next board meeting of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) will be on Tuesday, September 14 at 5pm via Zoom. In addition to regular business, there will be a presentation by Travoris Culpepper of Pepco to discuss upcoming work near the Champlain Street Substation that is expected to begin in January 2022 as well as construction taking place on Columbia Road in Adams Morgan in preparation for the substation upgrade.
