|
The next board meeting of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) will be on October 11 at 5pm via Zoom. In addition to regular business, we will be joined by Alex Krefetz from the DC Office of Planning to review the Streets for the People/Pedestrian Zone project.

The weather on Saturday was miserable so we were forced to postpone PorchFest, but we've rescheduled it! Everyone's favorite single-day music festival is returning to Adams Morgan on Saturday, October 15, so mark your calendars now and make plans to join us.

The DC Office of Planning is hosting a survey on their website to get the public's feedback on Streets for the People events including the Adams Morgan Pedestrian Zone. This feedback is very important to help inform future programs.

The Adams Morgan Pedestrian Zone will return on Sunday, October 23 with more fun activities and a few surprises.

COMCAST RISE investment fund to give $10k monetary grants to 100 small businesses in DC owned by women and people of color
|
Big news for District-based small businesses owned by women and people of color:
The Comcast RISE Investment Fund
grant has returned for 2022 and will be awarding $10,000 grants to 100 businesses. The Investment Fund is an extension of Comcast RISE, a multiyear, multifaceted initiative launched in October 2020 to help strengthen small businesses impacted by the pandemic.
The Investment Fund grant application window runs through October 16.
GRANT ELIGIBILITY

Established business operations for 3 or more years.
-
25 or fewer full-time and part-time employees.
-
At least 51% owned and operated by someone who identifies as person of color, including Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and Asian American owners, or a woman.

to complete DMPED's DC Economic Strategy Input Form
DMPED is updating Washington, DC’s economic development strategy to guide economic development efforts for the next five years. The new strategy will replace DC’s current Economic Strategy, which expires in 2022. See below for more details.
The new strategy will focus on how economic development efforts can drive tax revenue, resident economic mobility, and business vitality and competitiveness, taking into account the enduring effects of the pandemic. It will establish new goals, metrics, and plans for action and build on recent work, including the District’s Comprehensive Plan and the Mobility Action Plan, a new framework for resident mobility that visualizes how DC residents might take advantage of District housing, financial well-being, and workforce programs to reach their personal and financial goals. Strategy development will also be informed by related efforts currently in progress, including the Build Back Better Infrastructure Task Force and Tax Revision Commission. The final plan will be released in early 2023.

Inclusive Innovation Equity Impact Fund (DMPED)
|
The Inclusive Innovation Equity Impact Fund will support businesses eligible to be equity impact enterprises (EIE) with training and investment in the form of revenue or equity-based financing. An equity impact enterprise is a resident-owned, small business that it is at least 51% owned by an individual who is, or a majority number of individuals who are economically disadvantaged or have been subjected to racial or ethnic prejudice or cultural bias.
An equity impact enterprise is a DC resident-owned, small business that is at least 51% owned by an individual who is, or a majority number of individuals who are, economically disadvantaged or have been subjected to racial or ethnic prejudice or cultural bias. Businesses that will receive funding should have less than $2,000,000 in annual revenues. Finally, to be eligible, the applicant must certify in writing that the business is unable to obtain conventional financing or is a business enterprise that cannot reasonably be expected to qualify for financing under the standards of commercial lending.
1863 Ventures administers the funds and is responsible for final decisions on funding.
Deadline for application is 11:59 PM January 31st 2023.

A Zero Waste DC Starts with Your Input
|
The Department of Public Works (DPW) Office of Waste Diversion is developing the Zero Waste DC Plan in pursuit of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Zero Waste goal of diverting 80% of the District of Columbia’s waste away from landfills and incineration.
In August, DPW hosted ten (10) virtual community engagement events to hear residents’ and businesses’ concerns, ideas, and visions for the Zero Waste future. Throughout September, they heard from community members during a 45-day public comment period on the Zero Waste DC Plan’s first draft framework.
This October, they're still listening!
DPW invites you to join virtually on October 28 to help dive deeper into the business priorities around Zero Waste.
Similar to the first round of events, there will be one event for each of the District’s eight wards, one for the business community, and one for the government.

Now Accepting Applications for New Alcohol License Types
|
Applications are now being accepted for new alcohol license types created by the
Reopen Washington DC Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration Amendment Act of 2022
.
They include:

Third-Party Alcohol Delivery License
Permits the same day delivery of alcohol to consumers within DC by delivery companies on behalf of alcohol-licensed restaurants, taverns, and other retailers, and manufacturers. To apply, submit the
Alcohol License Application
, the Third-Party Alcohol License Addendum included in the application packet, and all other specified documents.

Commercial Lifestyle License
Permits the on-premises consumption of alcohol purchased from alcohol licensed tenants of mixed-used commercial developments within predefined boundaries not licensed by ABRA such as along or on walkways, piers, breezeways, plazas, and other outdoor areas. To apply, submit the

, the Commercial Lifestyle License Addendum included in the application packet, and all other specified documents.
Applications must be submitted timely and be approved the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board. Applications are subject to a 45-day public comment period.
