The Adams Morgan Partnership BID is pleased to partner with
Licking Creek Bend Farm to host: the Adams Morgan Apple Festival!
Featuring:
The First Annual Apple Pie Contest
and
Licking Creek Bend Farm's Annual Heirloom Apple Tasting
Saturday, October 24, 2015
Festivities start at 10:00am
At the Adams Morgan Farmer's Market in the SunTrust Plaza at 18th and
Columbia Road, NW open 8:00am – 1:00pm
Festival Events:
10:00am – Pies delivered
10:00am – 11:30am – Sign up for People’s Choice Judges – This is first
come first serve. The first 4 people to sign up will become the
People’s Choice Judges
10:30am – Heirloom Apple Tasting
11:45am – Apple Pie Contest
12:45PM – Announcement of winners
Heirloom apple varieties will include:
Arkansas Black (1833) (aka Black Twig), York Imperial (1800), Paradise
(France, 1400), Rusty Coat (old!!), Golden Russett (NY, 1845), Lady (France,
1600), Winter Banana (1876), VA Winesap (1866), Sweet Banana (1870's),
Grimes Gold (1832), Lady Katrina (200 years old on our farm), Northern Spy
(1800), Washington Strawberry (1791), and others!
The Apple Pie Contest Judges include:
Andy Shallal – Busboys and Poets, owner
Constantine Stavropoulos, owner of Tryst, The Diner and other businesses
Ted Guthrie – ANC1C Commissioner
Tim Carman – Washington Post Food Critic
Eun Yang - NBC4
Chris Giradot - Giradot's Crumbs Bakery
...and the first 4 residents to sign up that morning at 10 am!
After the contest, pies will be sold by the piece for $5.00, the proceeds will go
to Christ House, a local Adams Morgan non-profit. The pie winner will receive a
2-week CSA membership from the Farmer's Market.

No Later Than
Friday October 16 at 12 noon with your name, phone number and type of
apple pie you will make. Local Adams Morgan businesses are welcome to
enter the competition.
Anyone who enters before the cut off can select their apples at the Licking
Creek Bend Farm stand at the Adams Morgan Farmer’s Market on Saturday,
October 17
FOR FREE.
Please bring a card with your ingredients so that we may accommodate dietary
restrictions. Please make a minimum of 3 pies.
You can make more but please let us know how many you plan to make.
We hope that folks will be able to enjoy tasting the pies as well.
