The ballot you should have received in the mail a couple weeks ago has access codes that are not valid and will not allow you to vote. Due to the nature of the election, there was no way for us to know about the issue until the election officially started at 5:00pm last night. This issue only affects ballots with QR codes printed on them.
We apologize for this error. It was entirely outside of our control -- the vendor running the election has taken full responsibility for the issue. They are issuing us a full refund and are working with us to help resolve the problems. If you need a ballot to vote on behalf of your business or commercial property, please contact Brian Barrie via

After having to cut the event short last year due to the pandemic,

has returned with a familiar, but somewhat different format. We'll still be giving away fabulous date packages and offering great suggestions for staying close to your special someone while staying socially distant from others, but there will be takeout and even virtual options as well.
In light of the difficulties our members have had to endure over the last year we didn't ask our businesses for prize donations -- instead, the prizes will be gift cards (purchased by us) to the Adams Morgan business chosen by the prize winner.

Fitness Classes at BB&T Plaza
|
We're looking for Adams Morgan fitness businesses interested in hosting outdoor classes in the plaza in front of BB&T Bank at the corner of Columbia Road and Adams Mill Road. Fitness classes would be a great way to activate that space this spring starting in mid-April and continuing through June depending on interest.
You take care of the students, we'll take care of the permits and we'll help advertise this spring fitness initiative.

OTR To Host a Series of Citywide Virtual Info Sessions to Help Real Property Tax Owners Navigate the MyTax.DC.gov Portal

Beginning March 10, the Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) will host a series of citywide virtual information sessions to assist properties owners in navigating the MyTax.DC.gov portal. The sessions will include a demonstration of the real property tax functionalities in the portal, and provide participants an opportunity to ask questions.
At the info sessions, property owners will learn how to:

View and pay their real property tax bills

View their real property assessments

Manage their online accounts

Apply for tax relief programs such as the Homestead Benefit

New Grant Opportunity from NCRC
|
The
National Community Reinvestment Coalition
(NCRC) and the
Stavros Niarchos Foundation
(SNF) announced the launch of a major new initiative, the SNF Small Business Growth & Recovery Fund. The fund’s mission is to help U.S. small businesses, focusing on those owned by people of color, women and veterans as well as those in lower-income communities, find their footing in an acutely challenging economic landscape. The fund’s vision is both short- and long-term. It aims to help small businesses that have been severely impacted by the pandemic stabilize, and at the same time seeks to assist in building a more inclusive economy.
Striving to help address economic inequities, the fund will support U.S. small businesses, focusing on those owned by traditionally underserved groups by providing better access to capital through grants that do not need to be repaid.
The SNF Small Business Growth & Recovery Fund grant program, which will open with $1.3 million, will award U.S.-based small businesses with up to $20,000 each in non-repayable grants, accompanied by complementary training and mentorship to support them. The initiative will be managed through Equivico by NCRC.

National Cherry Blossom Festival: March 20 - April 11
|
The Cherry Blossom Festival is going to be mostly virtual this year, but there are opportunities for your business to participate and take advantage of the festival's marketing efforts and visitors to the city. The Adams Morgan Partnership will once again be decorating the neighborhood with Cherry Blossom decals in the next couple weeks.
Art in Bloom
Beginning March 20, go on the hunt for 25 giant cherry blossom sculptures flourishing throughout the DC area. Featuring the artwork of local and national artists, engage with the icons for a chance to win prizes.
We have arranged with the Festival to have one of the giant cherry blossoms (photo on the left) placed in Adams Morgan at BB&T Plaza.

Register by March 15, and get your neighbors involved too for the chance to have the Petal Procession cruise through your neighborhood!

When salt is applied to sidewalks and roadways to melt ice, most of it is eventually flushed out into the District’s streams and rivers. Our waterways are fresh water, so this influx of salty water harms the animals and plants that call our streams and rivers home. With more people using salt on their sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots to manage ice than in the past, the environmental impacts of salt in the District are becoming more intense.
The Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) is asking you to fill out this short,
10-minute survey
.
The survey will help the District better understand what strategies are currently being used by commercial buildings and places of worship to manage ice and how to best encourage a voluntary shift to more environmentally-friendly practices.

– because we have a new additional high tunnel and can start planting earlier, we are offering up to 30 memberships for May, starting May 8. Early crops we are planning include: lettuce, spinach, kale, scallions, early squash, other early greens and maybe some surprises! This is an experiment because the weather is so unpredictable from March to May in our valley, to be safe, we are limiting the number of members we can meet. Should the weather really cooperate and our crops do well, we can add folks, so if you aren’t part of the first 30 members, we can have a waiting list.
May will have 4 pick up weeks (Saturday or Sunday) for $25/week or $100 if you also sign up for Session 2 (June/July). If you only do May, the cost will be $30/week or $120.
