Join the Board of Directors
|
The Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 12.
Board Elections:
AMPBID holds elections every year at our annual meeting in March. The board consists of 15 seats, nine of which are reserved for commercial property owners and six for business owners. Board members are elected to serve three-year terms (unless they are replacing a board member who resigned before the end of their term).

There are two ways to become a board member nominee: 1) Through a nominating petition, as per the process in our bylaws,
those will be accepted until February 1st (tomorrow)
. Nominating petitions for board members must be submitted to Kristen Barden, Executive Director, at least 40 days prior to the date of the annual meeting (February 1, 2024). Petitions must have the signatures of at least 10 AMPBID members or 2) through the AMPBID’s nominating committee. The committee will present their slate of candidates at the February 13 monthly board meeting.
Postcards with information about the AMPBID Annual Meeting were mailed to all AMPBID members last week. Ballots for the election will be send in mid-February after the Nominating Committee presents their slate of candidates.

for this fun, DIY event perfect for adults and kids! This workshop includes all materials to make quirky Valentine's Day cards. Here's what we have:

[Dino-mite Valentine] Great for kids (but not just for them!), these color-in valentines come with a free dino model to attach to your valentine.

[Anatomical Heart Greeting Cards] Perhaps the quintessential symbol of Valentine's Day (well, at Because Science anyway!), we're serving up the anatomical heart with a dash of punn-ery. Color in the card and add your own valentine pun- we'll have lots to choose from. Dads beware: we're good at the science jokes!
Whether or not you're an artist, this event is for you!
Adults and kids of any age are welcome to participate.
This activity is free for all and does not require advance registration - just stop by anytime during activity hours (plan for about 15-20 minutes to do the activity). However, registering for the event will help us get a read on how much material to prepare and will enable you to easily import the event to your calendar or invite friends!

What is 420 Food Week?
Savory or sweet, cannabis and delicious food go hand in hand! In the week leading up to NCF we welcome thousands of cannabis-lovers from up and down the east coast to the city for a week of events and opportunities to network with like-minded folks. Last year, we added food to the mix and gave our fans a chance to explore all the flavor our city has to offer!
What does it take to be a 420 Food Week partner?
We encourage participating restaurants to share a special event (maybe you’re screening a 4/20 themed movie?), menu item (CBD mocktail?), and/or special offer (get a free dessert?, etc.) that NCF fans can access when they mention the festival, along with any terms to the offer (one per table, etc.). The best part is that it is absolutely free to participate. You can take an item that you already offer and add a twist to it.

|
CBE All Things Green -- Grant Opportunities Are Now Open!
The District of Columbia (DC) Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is excited to announce that it will be soliciting applications for four independent programs under the Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) All Things Green Grants.
Applications
are due by February 16, 2024 at 2 pm.
CBE All Things Green is an initiative within DSLBD to support CBEs in the expanding green and sustainable energy and buildings market. In partnership with the Department of Energy and the Environment (DOEE), DSLBD is supporting CBEs with opportunities to prepare them for DOEE, DCSEU, and more market opportunities. DSLBD will refer CBEs to the CBE Green Contract Services grantees so they can utilize marketing and back-office services offered through the program, and grantees may propose strategies to recruit additional CBEs.
We Aspire Incubator
In 2023, 43 justice-involved DC entrepreneurs participated in the
WeAspire program
, almost doubling its participant enrollment from the previous year and making this the most diverse cohort, to date.
Over the 14 weeks of the cohort, participants were provided mentorship, business planning assistance, leadership development skills, and work experience to support their dream of running their own businesses.
Aspire to Entrepreneurship started in 2016 at the request of Mayor Bowser as a pilot incubator program and has grown to be an annual grant process to build the entrepreneurship ecosystem supporting justice-involved residents pursuing wealth-building through small business creation and growth.
The Aspire Program and its members are a crucial part of DSLBD’s commitment to supporting the growth of small businesses in big ways that build community wealth and economic development for the District.
