Adams Morgan Spring PorchFest:
Proceeding as Planned on Saturday, May 4!
|
Weather note:
We've been keeping a close eye on the weather and we've decided to go ahead with PorchFest on Saturday. With 80+ bands booked and the logistics involved in closing the street we can't wait until Saturday morning to make a decision, so based on the information available right now, we think the weather will have a minimal impact on the event and we're proceeding as planned.
Adams Morgan Spring PorchFest
returns on Saturday, May 4 from 2-6pm! Featuring approximately 80 bands, this event will showcase some of DC’s best local musical talent featuring nearly every musical genre, including classic rock, funk, go-go, rap, reggae, blue grass, classical, and pop. Twenty porches, business patios, parks, and the closed 18th Street will become stages for the day, drawing music-lovers from around the region into the tree-lined streets and small businesses of Adams Morgan. 18th Street NW (between Columbia and Kalorama Roads NW) will be closed to vehicular traffic creating additional safe space for performances.
Event patrons can pick up a music map and FREE wristband at three different event headquarter locations. The first location is in the plaza in front of Truist Bank at the corner of Columbia and Adams Mill Roads NW. The second location is in front of 2424 18th Street NW inside the road closure. The third location is in the Marie Reed Elementary School Plaza in front of the Recreation Center located at 2201 18th St NW (18th St. at Wyoming). Event wristbands provide attendees with dozens of discounts at various Adams Morgan businesses. After picking up a wristband and event map, guests can stroll through the neighborhood for nonstop musical performances from 2-6pm, enjoy lunch, dinner, or drinks at a neighborhood hangout, and shop for unique gifts at local boutiques. Be one of the first to exhibit in DC Art Center's newly renovated galleries! Wallmountables is one of DC’s largest open community art exhibitions and The DC Arts Center’s annual fundraiser! During WallMountables, anyone can purchase as many 2’ x 2’ squares on the new gallery walls as they’d like and display whatever artwork they want! While simply showing your work is exciting enough, there's always the chance that your work sells, too! Artists keep 100% of all proceeds when their work sells.

Using your input, WMATA has created the proposed 2025 Better Bus Network, which represents Metro’s commitment to improving service and connections using the resources we have today. Next month, they will present the proposed 2025 Network for your review and feedback.
Starting in May, visit one of Better Bus Discovery Tour events to learn about the proposed 2025 Network, ask questions, and provide feedback. You will also be able to testify at a public hearing.
You’ll also be able to visit the online Discovery Hub to learn more about the proposed 2025 Network, use the 2025 Trip Planner tool, and explore the Map Library.

Summer 2024 Red Line Construction & Impacts

We are one month away from the Summer 2024 Red Line Construction that will impact customers on the Red Line. As you may already know, there will be no Red Line service between Glenmont and Takoma starting June 1 through August 31, 2024.
Please note: the Red Line will be closed between Fort Totten and Takoma June 1-29, 2024.
