Join the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Washington Metropolitan Area District Office (WMADO) and SCORE as we celebrate the contributions and success of our local small businesses during National Small Business Week.
The award ceremony will start with a morning networking breakfast follow by awards present to SBA’s Small Business Person of the Year for the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, as well as 8(a) Graduate of the Year, Small Prime Contract of the Year and Small Business Subcontractor of Year

SBA Small Business Expo 2017
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Washington Metropolitan Area District Office, Deputy District Director, Julie Clowes will serve as one of the keynote speakers at the Small Business Expo VIP Breakfast on April 19, 2017.
During the Small Business Expo, Alexandra Piotrowski, SBA Economic Development Specialist will be onsite with information and resources to inform and educate attendees about the benefits of SBA's programs and services.

What is inner city capital connections (ICCC)?
ICCC is an executive education and training program with the goal of promoting economic prosperity in underserved communities.

It helps established urban small businesses create and maintain sustainable growth and, in turn, create more good jobs where they are needed most.
-
It is the country’s only program that educates inner city businesses about different forms of capital and then connects them with potential capital providers.
What are the general guidelines for the small business candidates?
-
Annual company revenues of at least $500,000 per year;
-
In operations for at least 2 years;
-
Readiness/commitment of the CEO; and
-
Geographic location inside the Capital Beltway.

What is your role as a nominating partner?

Simply identify small business candidates;

Let them know you will be nominating them; and
-
Submit the company contact information to the team at ICCC. The team will conduct the interview and will make the final decision.

ABC Licence Holders: Learn to Spot a Fake ID
ABC licensees and their staff are invited to attend ID Compliance Training hosted by the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) from April 21-23, 2017. Training topics will include:

Preventing sales of alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated persons;

Techniques for properly verifying IDs;
-
Tips for spotting fake IDs; and
-
Information on ABRA compliance checks.

It's getting to be that time of year and AMPBID will be hosting our Summer Concert Series again starting on Saturday May 6 with Almeda, winners of the popular vote at the Adams Morgan PorchFest back in October. The concerts will take place on Saturday afternoons through May and June in front of BB&T Bank at the corner of Columbia Rd. and 18th St., NW. There will be a special show on Monday evening, June 5 that will start at 6pm, but otherwise, all shows will go from 5 - 7pm.

The Messengers takes us on an intimate three-year journey through the maze of emotions and hard truths that exist inside the walls of Joseph's House – a home for homeless men and women with late-stage AIDS and terminal cancer. There, we meet two young volunteers: Cameron, a 20-year-old well-intentioned, but naive college dropout; and 23-year-old Brittney who has a firm belief about her mission in life. What both of them soon learn is that death holds many revelations that alter their assumptions about the world and redefine their place in it. The dying become teachers, opening the volunteers’ eyes to the important connections that death can bring to life.
