Pepco work week of July 7th

We wanted to take the opportunity to remind everyone that the Harvard Conversion project will start next week.
On July 7th, crews will begin the installation of manholes on Columbia Rd., which should take approximately 2 weeks to complete. We project to be working in the following locations:
7/7/14 - 7/18/14: In front of 1637 Columbia Rd., NW
7/7 /14 - 7/18/14: In front of 1720 Columbia Rd., NW
Following completion of the manholes, crews will start installing the new underground conduit. Construction will typically take place Monday - Friday. Once we start installing the new underground conduit, customers should expect crews to take approximately 4 weeks to complete excavation and conduit installation on an average size block. The traffic control plan on Columbia Rd. calls for our crews to mostly utilize 1 parking lane and 1 travel lane, except when we cross Ontario Rd. where crews will be required to utilize both parking lanes. For further detail, between Champlain St. and Ontario Rd. we will be working on the south side of Columbia Rd. Crews will then cross to the north side of Columbia Rd. near Ontario Rd.
I understand our contractor, Anchor Construction, placed the emergency no parking signs up yesterday and previously providied door hanger notification to customers in the immediate area of construction.

As a reminder, the Harvard Conversion project involves increasing capacity of underground feeders from 4kV to 13kV . To achieve the conversion, new pipes (conduits) must be installed to house the new 13 kV cables. Next, crews will install the new cable. Finally, customers will be transitioned from the old feeder to the new feeder. During this phase of the project, we will construct approximately 4,000 feef of conduit, 11 manholes, and 2 switches. These upgrades will enhance reliability for customers in the area.
