Celebrate the Season with an Interactive Light Display, Holiday Caroling & More!

You are invited to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year in Adams Morgan! It’s the perfect place to shop, dine, and support approximately 240 local, small businesses. Enjoy a variety of fun holiday activities and festive decorations, an interactive light display in the plaza, plenty of shops for all of your gift-giving needs, and an array of restaurants for every palate and pocketbook.
A month-long interactive light display is located in the plaza at Columbia Road and Adams Mill Road, NW throughout December! The illuminated display is ideal for selfies or holiday card photos - plus, you may even find a surprise mistletoe. Street light decorations can also be found throughout the neighborhood and will surely get you in the holiday spirit.
While holiday shopping, attending a holiday party, or enjoying a date night out in Adams Morgan, visitors can listen to holiday carolers in Dickensian costumes and the

December AMPBID Board Meeting
|
The next board meeting of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) will be on December 13 at 5pm via Zoom. In addition to regular business
the board will be forming a nominating committee ahead of board elections to be held in March.
AMPBID holds elections every year at our annual meeting in March. The board consists of 15 seats, nine of which are reserved for commercial property owners and six for business owners. Board members are elected to serve three-year terms (unless they are replacing a board member who resigned before the end of their term).

Commercial Property Acquisition Fund RFP opening January 2023
|
Opening January 2023, the
Commercial Property Acquisition Fund
(CPAF) will provide eligible businesses with down payment assistance of up to $750,000 or 25% of the sale price, whichever is less, for the acquisition of commercial property in the District. This year businesses will need to complete the
Commercial Property Acquisition 101 course
in order to apply for the Fund. The mandatory training class will take place on December 12. The class will go live and then be made available online later that day.

Good news in legislation as the session winds down. Last night the
DC Council permanently capped basic delivery service by third parties at 15%.
(Additional services, such as marketing, may be added for a fee.) Pickup orders placed over apps are capped at 5%. When it takes effect next year, the Fair Meals Delivery Act also requires delivery services to have written agreements with restaurants and prohibits advertising a restaurant without its permission.
The council also
eliminated Metrobus fares and expanded service round-the-clock starting July 1
. Cutting fares and adding overnight routes should especially be a benefit to the hospitality workforce, and in particular for late-night service workers. This council action will still need to be approved by the mayor.

open January 2. The awards highlight businesses, individuals, and organizations that are working towards a more sustainable DC.
The
DC Commercial Property Acquisition Fund
hosts its final information webinar at 5 pm Monday. The fund offers eligible businesses down payment assistance of up to $750,000 or 25%.

new round of Bridge Funds
for businesses that lost revenue due to the pandemic. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $45,000, with priority given to businesses that have not received relief funds.

The DC Department of Public Works has opened another round of public comments to the
Zero Waste DC Plan
draft framework. DPW is considering a number of recommendations affecting restaurant operations, including how food waste, reusable containers, and recycling are handled. Comments are due by December 30.

CNHED’s Executive Leadership Education Venture Advancing Talented Entrepreneurs (ELEVATE) Program provides best-in-class training to minority-owned small businesses (MBEs) located in DC. Through ELEVATE, MBEs work to acquire new skills that allow them to more effectively and efficiently manage their business, products, and services, as well as increase revenue and employment.
ELEVATE is the only minority executive education program in DC that is backed by a university partner. The 3-month ELEVATE curriculum, developed by the George Washington School of Business (GWSB) Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence, is led by GWSB faculty members.
