Sign Up for the Adams Morgan Cash Mob this May!
|
The Adams Morgan Partnership BID is partnering with
CNHED
on DC Small Business Month in May. We’re promoting a month-long “Cash Mob” while suggesting that people spend locally/support small businesses in Adams Morgan. Throughout May, we will feature various businesses and encourage people to participate in the Cash Mob on a set day and time period at each business (eight businesses total, two Cash Mobs per week). Although not required, it would be great if the business could offer a promotion/discount on their Cash Mob day as an extra incentive to come visit. We will promote your business and the Cash Mob in our newsletter, on our social media channels, and through CNHED’s marketing platforms. Hopefully, this will bring extra foot traffic (and sales) to your business!

The Cherry Blossom Festival may be over but Adams Morgan still has a Blossom Sculpture!
|
The Adams Morgan Partnership BID is excited to partner with the
National Cherry Blossom Festival
and host a one-of-a-kind, giant cherry blossom sculpture in Adams Morgan! The five foot tall, 1,200 pound sculpture is called “Community Grid” is now located in BB&T Plaza at 1801 Adams Mill Rd NW. The sculpture was designed by local artists My Ly (
@mylydesign
) and Jaclyn Stallard (
@jstallard
). It's one of 26 sculptures that are installed throughout DC, Virginia, and Maryland as part of
Art in Bloom
, a public art exhibition in celebration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
We encourage you to go on a “Blossom Hunt” - starting in Adams Morgan and making your way around DC to find each sculpture. In addition to the life-size cherry blossom sculpture, our neighborhood is fully decked out with cherry blossom decals to help celebrate the season and the joy that this beloved tradition brings to our city each year.

The IFundWomen X Neutrogena® Fund

Neutrogena® is teaming up with IFundWomen to give women-owned businesses in the health and wellness space a fresh start in 2021. Through this program, 10 qualified women entrepreneurs across the U.S. will each receive a $10,000 grant to support their fresh start after a challenging year in business. Registration is Open for Bike To Work Day 2021

The Washington, DC region’s 20th Anniversary Bike to Work Day is returning this year on
Friday, May 21, 2021
.
Due to COVID, things will be a bit different this year. Registrants will have to register for a specific 30 minute time slot and only 30 riders will be allowed to register for each slot, so total registration will be strictly limited. To help accommodate this, we're extending our pit stop hours -- the
Adams Morgan Pit Stop
will be open from 7:30am to 11:00am at Unity Park (in front of The LINE Hotel DC, corner of Columbia Rd. and Champlain St., NW).
Due to the COVID restrictions this year we won't be able to host any on-site activities, but we're planning on having some good giveaways, so stay tuned for more details.

Paid Leave Tax Credit for Vaccination Briefing

In DC, we are hearing from many of you who are seeking guidance and answers to your questions on the lifting of restrictions on May 1 specifically around live music/entertainment near outdoor dining areas at restaurants, special events, waivers for larger groups and any other operational details in the form of a new executive order. We heard today that these guidelines are currently in draft form and are awaiting final approval to be released either later this week or early next week. We are pushing for the earlier and will keep you posted so you can plan accordingly. As you know, we are also requesting an increase in the capacity limit for indoor dining. We remain in daily contact with the City and are providing details every day on the state of restaurant operations, major challenges, and financial losses operators continue to experience. We are hopeful for some news on this front as we know 25% is not sustainable for you. We will provide ongoing updates as always.
Additionally in DC, Mayor Bowser announced earlier this week that
starting June 1, the City will resume parking enforcement, towing, and street sweeping enforcement
, which have been unenforced during the public health emergency. Please ensure your employees, vendors, and customers are aware as many have likely come to expect and enjoy the relaxed restrictions on parking. The City also created a new parking “Ticket Amnesty” program that will run June 1 through September 30 of this year. This gives those with any outstanding parking tickets the ability to pay them without incurring any penalties for lateness.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PRELIMINARY FINDING ON THE RECERTIFICATION OF THE ADAMS MORGAN PARTNERSHIP BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 19 of the Business Improvement Districts Act of 1996, effective May 29, 1996 (D.C. Law 11-134; D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18) (“Act”), the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) will hold a public hearing on the recertification of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District.
The public hearing will be held at 2:00 pm on
Monday, June 21, 2021 in Suite 850N, 441 4th Street NW, Washington, D.C.
DSLBD Director Kristi Whitfield has informed the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District that the filing criteria set forth in D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18 have been met and their application is otherwise in conformity with the Act.
The BID application is available for review by the public during normal business hours on weekdays at 1640 Columbia Road, N.W., in the offices of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District; and by the public online at:
