1) Adams Morgan BID launches new website

Some of you may have already gotten a sneak peak of our new website but for those of you who haven't, please take a look - www.adamsmorganonline.org . Capturing the character, diversity and architecture of the neighborhood was a top priority so we hope the hand-drawn approach we used for the street scenes captures the charm and creates a sense of place.

There are lots of new features - business listings with photos and contact information, newsletter archive (newsletter sign up too), event calendar, board list, etc...

We may have gotten some things wrong so if you see a mistake please let us know and we'll correct it. ALSO - the events calendar depends on YOU! In order to populate that YOU need to post your special sales, events, grand openings, etc...

Thanks and we hope this website will be a better resource for everyone!

End the Awkward campaign sponsored by the DC Office of Human Rights (OHR)

The “End the Awkward” campaign that OHR is leading for DC government and partner organizations is a one-day campaign which empowers the public and businesses to share information about disability issues, and to take a pledge to raise awareness and better understand them. The website for the campaigns is http://ohr.dc.gov/page/endtheawkwardDC .

Employees at participating businesses would wear an “End the Awkward: Ask Me How” pin and learn simple talking points about respectful ways to interact with people with disabilities. The employees are provided talking points so that when a customer asks an employee “how to end the awkward,” they are able to respond with a quick 5 – 10 second talking point.

Participating businesses are provided “End the Awkward” pins for employees, the talking points and accompanying materials at no cost, and will be listed as a participating business on the project website and media release. It’s a great opportunity for businesses to support people with disabilities in the District, while demonstrating to customers their commitment to enhancing a sense of community and inclusion.

The link for businesses to sign up is: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/end-the-awkward-focus-on-the-person-not-the-disability-business-registration-registration-17262213746 .   The deadline to sign up is July 8th.

DC Circulator Bus - now on the National Mall

Get on Board the National Mall Route!

On June 15th, the DC Circulator launched a sixth route along the National Mall, providing access to 27 iconic monuments, memorials and museums that are an integral part of our city. The DC Circulator is now the only public transportation option that services the interior streets of the National Mall. Passengers can now catch the bus on the Mall and travel throughout the Circulator Bus system into DC neighborhoods like Adams Morgan.

The route begins at Union Station, travels along Louisiana Avenue and loops around the National Mall via Madison Drive, West Basin Drive, Ohio Drive, Constitution Avenue and Jefferson Drive. Summer hours of operation are from 7am to 8pm on weekdays and 9am to 8pm on weekends.

The 7am start time makes the new route an ideal option for commuters that pass through Union Station. To complement the launch of the National Mall route and celebrate 10 years in service, the DC Circulator has released a limited edition SmarTrip ® card. The commemorative cards can be purchased at select gift shops along the route and online at commuterdirect.com .

Explore the District in a new way and share your experience riding the new Circulator route with us by using #MonumentalJourney on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
