Adams Morgan Fall PorchFest: October 14
|
Adams Morgan PorchFest is officially a twice-a-year event with its return on Saturday, October 14 from 2pm - 6pm.
DC's favorite music festival has grown in size and popularity every year and this fall
we're really going big and will be closing 18th Street to vehicle traffic between Kalorama and Columbia Roads during the event!
This year's event will have a headliner at 5pm -- Mark Bryan (of Hootie and the Blowfish) and his band The Screaming Trojans will be playing on 18th Street. Other featured bands include The Experience Band and The Airport 77s.
Rain rain, go away!
We're keeping an eye on the forecast and as of right now it doesn't look very promising, but our hope is to proceed on Saturday as scheduled. Unfortunately due to the many bands, sponsors, volunteers, etc. that have to be coordinated, we will likely have to make a final call about going forward on Saturday or postponing to a later date by Thursday, so stay tuned for more information.

New this year: PorchFest T-shirts at Neighborhood Retailers
|
In the past buying a PorchFest t-shirt was tricky. They were only available during the four hours of the event and only from the one tent where thousands of people were crowded to get their maps & wristbands. This year we've come up with a better plan -- we are partnering with neighborhood retailers

Adams Morgan Apple Festival returns on October 28
|
The 10th Annual Adams Morgan Apple Pie Baking Contest and the 15th Annual Licking Creek Bend Farm Heirloom Apple Tasting returns to Adams Morgan on
Saturday, October 28 from 10am - 1pm
!
The highly-anticipated community event will take place in front of The Line Hotel and directly across the street from the farmer’s market in Unity Park at Euclid and Champlain Streets NW.

Businesses: Let us know about your apple specials!
You can find apples in pies, tarts, martinis, salads, and more, but can people find any of those things (or other apple creations) at your business?
We would love to send Apple Festival attendees into Adams Morgan businesses before or after the event, so to play off of the “apple” theme, please let us know if you’d like to feature some sort of apple menu item (beverage, dessert, swag, etc.) and we can promote it leading up to the event and on that day. It can be an existing menu item or something special for that weekend. And retailers, we're open to submissions from you as well as long as it's apple-related.

SBAN 2023 Conference Happy Hour Tour:
Information Needed

As a component of the 2023 Small Business Anti-Displacement Network (SBAN) Conference happy hours will be held in neighborhoods around the DC region to showcase the diversity of businesses and neighborhoods. As a component of this conference activity, they are creating a flier that highlights each neighborhood and showcases BIPOC- and immigrant-owned small businesses within them.

The more Adams Morgan businesses that fill out the form (particularly BIPOC- and immigrant-owned businesses), the more likely the event will be held in our neighborhood.

You're invited to join the Adams Morgan Partnership BID and the US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia in a conversation about the criminal justice system in DC. The first session will include a general overview with a focus on the system through the lens of a typical case that might impact businesses. The second session will be an overview of barring notices including who it applies to, when to get one, and how it's enforced. The third session will be an overview of Community Impact Statements, how to write one, when to submit it, and how it can impact sentencing.

the medical cannabis business license open application period for standard and social equity applicants closes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023
. License types available are limited to Courier, Cultivation Center, and Manufacturer.

Applicants require a QuickBase account login to access the online application. Applicants may use their existing QuickBase account or create a new user account to access the application. There is no fee to create an account. Applicants may save their work and return to their application throughout the application period. Upon final submission, applicants will receive a confirmation notification of the date and time confirmation at the submitted business email.
