You'll discover how to incorporate everyday scenarios as well as outlandish fantasies into your writing, and make them fit for particular magazines and anthologies. She'll also talk about submitting your work and keeping up with the thriving erotica market (including anthologies, ebooks, magazines and websites). Whether you're writing to that special someone, penning longtime fantasies, or want to earn cash for your words, this workshop is for you. My name is Teresa Rainey, and I’m the Community Outreach Coordinator at the DC Office of Human Rights (OHR).  OHR enforces the DC Human Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination in DC in the areas of housing, employment, public accommodations, and educational institutions based on the 19 protected traits under the Act.

In partnership with TEDx MidAtlantic, OHR is hosting a free TEDx salon at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre on Monday, November 16th.  Since gender discrimination was the most common complaint received by our office in 2014, the TEDx talks will focus on gender equality and will later be used to spark further discussions on gender equality and discrimination with community groups and other partners.

Although the registration went live one week ago, we reached our capacity of 515 tickets within 4 days and have a waiting list of 80 people and counting.  So, we anticipate a great turnout at this event!

Businesses are asked if they would like to advertise products by providing samples/coupons/etc. for the giveaway bags we plan to provide to the first 300 attendees.  If restaurants would like to showcase free food we would also be happy to provide a space for that at our reception. Product samples, coupons, and/or food, are welcomed and we would of course recognize your sponsorship at the event and provide space for your promotional materials in the giveaway bags.

This is a great opportunity to show support for gender equality in the District while also raising awareness about your business!

Join us in MPD's annual Food 4 Families campaign, where we collect food and money to provide a Thanksgiving meal to families in need across our area.

The following are recommended non-perishables:

• Canned vegetables (yams, carrots, green beans, corn)
• Cranberry sauce
• Apple sauce
• Canned fruits
• Soups (box and can)
• Dry goods (stuffing, rice, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes)

All Metropolitan Police Departments will be participating. The Third District location is 1620 V St NW.

You can drop off the goods at the front desk or there will be a marked box with Food for Families on it.
