Save the Dates: September 9th - AMPBID Board meeting and October 14 AMPBID Annual Meeting and board elections

The next Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) Board of Directors' meeting will be Tuesday, September 9th, 2014 at 5 PM at the Festival Center at 1640 Columbia Road, NW.  Hope you can join us! An agenda will be sent out before the meeting.

Board members: Please call or email Kristen at 202-997-0783 or kbarden@adamsmorganonline.org if you are unable to attend otherwise we will assume you are attending. Thanks.

Annual Meeting - October 14

The Annual Meeting of the AMPBID will be Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 5pm, at the Festival Center at 1640 Columbia Road, NW. Postcards will be mailed to all property owners and business owners this week.

AMPBID Annual Meeting Election Process

At the October 14th Annual Meeting, BID members will have the opportunity to vote for candidates for 5 board slots: three property owners and two business owners. The board members currently holding those positions have been renominated for another term and have agreed to serve if elected.

Those are:

* Steve Greenleigh, property owner

* Pat Patrick, property owner

* Jeffrey Schonberger, property owner

* Al Jirikowic, business owner

* Saied Azali, business owner

AMPBID Annual Meeting Election Process

Each person eligible for election as a member of the Board may be nominated by: 1) the nominating committee, or 2) by a member petition submitted to the Chair of the Nominating Committee (Matt Wexler) at least 30 days prior to the date of the meeting (so additional nominations must be received by September 15th); provided that only business owners can nominate business owners and property owners can only nominate property owners and a petition shall require the signature of no less than ten (10) members to nominate a member of the Board. Each nominee either shall be present at the annual meeting or shall consent to such nomination by a written document.

Voting

Per the by-laws, any properties for which BID taxes are over 60 days delinquent, may not vote nor may they nominate members to the board.

For each class of member, the ballot will list all the candidate names, and members will vote for the number of open slots in that category. For example, there are two business owner slots. All members will have the opportunity to vote for two candidates from the list of all business owner candidates.

Proxies

Proxy votes are allowed.

Pursuant to the BID bylaws, those interested in voting in the board elections by proxy can either contact the BID to request a proxy form, or can develop their own form, as long as it includes: the date of the meeting at which it is applicable (October 15) full names, addresses and the dated signatures of both the individual issuing the proxy and the witness(es) to the signature. The proxy voter can be anyone to whom the property or business owner designates to vote for them and DOES NOT have to be a member of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. All proxy forms must meet all these criteria to be accepted.

The BID will have a proxy form available by fax, mail and by email.

Any questions on this process, please call Kristen at the BID office 202-997-0783 or email her at: Kbarden@adamsmorganonline.org .

New technology available for text to landlines

We recently learned about a new technology that was developed in DC that enbles people to use text messages from their cell phones to landlines. This could be a tool that will help your business.

Communication Innovation Comes to Adams Morgan!

Communication is the lifeblood of relationships, family, business, education, social life, and community. It is true across the country, and certainly true in Adams Morgan, the heart of DC.

Text messaging (SMS) is a simple and easy way of communicating, and its use sure has evolved over the years. According to Pew Internet1 research, 2-way text communication is used more than ever by all age groups. 90% of all adults have mobile phones, and almost 98% of adults ages 18-49 have them. In user groups of all ages, over 81% of mobile phone users send or receive texts. Findings prove that texting has surpassed phone calling and emails in frequency of use.

Because of such frequency of use, innovation is occurring in the tech marketplace. People and businesses – and now for the first time in Adams Morgan - are now learning to use these innovations to communicate using SMS texting more effectively and efficiently.

Digital data in the form of SMS text, is being tasked with delivering much more value in today's tech-dominated communication world. It has come a long way from simple 2-way text communications between cell phones. Use appropriately, texting is a powerful tool.

For example, we can now use SMS texting to deliver tremendous business value and return on investment. Because of its asynchronous nature, SMS messaging is inherently able to modernize, organize, and humanize 2-way dialogue between mobile users and businesses (M2BTM).  Streamlining communication processes between small to medium-sized businesses and mobile users was possible, but proved too cumbersome, time consuming, and too costly.  Today, the use of text messaging is making the impossible, possible.

txtmeQuickTM uses SMS to reach customers real-time, or more importantly, allow customers to reach your business anytime. SMS texting can now be used in vastly more scenarios, such as strengthen community, augment public safety, break language barriers, and maintain cultural diversity in our community.

With new communication innovations invented by a DC-based company called txtmeQuickTM, a 2-way SMS texting platform has been patented with programmable functionality. It can transmit documents, photos, video, voice to text, and text to fax.

And the solution works on ANY cell phone, tablet, or computer. Language is no longer a barrier between texters - it auto-translates in 21 languages instantaneously with 98% accuracy. With txtmeQuickTM, there is no added equipment to purchase, no web apps to load, no software downloads, no AppStore updates, or hardware OS upgrades. No contracts, just a reasonable monthly service fee that has a significant return on money spent. It is easy, quick, cheap, and powerful solution to today's communication demands.

Enabling technology has been released by txtmeQuickTM that extends the enterprise and makes the SMS messaging SMART, a platform providing business process automation. This solution provides pre-configured and customer-specified tools that automate tasks such answering phones to handling customer questions, placing food orders, scheduling appointments, help field technicians, restaurant reservations or perform common administrative tasks that used to waste time, energy, and money.

It can pull FAQ data, Knowledge Base information, or extract information from any enterprise application with an application programmer's interface (API).

txtmeQuickTM will also gather and save the data, provide search-ability, and empower analytics to be actionable, context driven, and predictive. It is data compliant with the most stringent regulatory requirements.

Once marketers and businesses realize the deeper implications of these capabilities on the enterprise, and begin to implement them, the SMS messaging platform will revolutionize commerce as the next technology killer app. A true game-changing disruptive innovation launched right here in DC.

Many in the Adams-Morgan Partnership can now take quick advantage of texting's personal and commercial benefits through an early adopter program.

How can texting enable your business? Help the community? Add cohesiveness? Protect safety? Find out more by contacting:
