The Line DC
Opened Wednesday
The Line DC Hotel opened with fanfare and a ribbon cutting yesterday, bringing three new restaurants and a live radio station to the Adams Morgan neighborhood. Brothers and Sisters is a spacious lobby restaurant and bar with an all-day menu and high tea each afternoon. (Daily hours: 6:30 am to 12 am) Just inside the door, chef Spike Gjerde and Corey Polyoka's coffee bar The Cup We All Race 4 offers Counter Culture Coffee, straightforward sandwiches and pastries baked on-site. (Daily hours: 7 am to 8 pm). Wind up the stairs inside the 60-foot vaulted ceilings, and visit A Rake's Bar, which will be offering "Golden Hour" from 4 pm until late in the evening each day. The cocktail program led by Corey Polyoka will showcase DC distillers and breweries now.
Two additional restaurants will open later this winter: the full-service A Rake's Progress, run by Spike Gjerde, and the intimate Spoken English, a Japanese standing-room-only bar by Erik Bruner-Yang.
The Line DC is intended as a social hub for Adams Morgan housed in a thoughtfully renovated neoclassical church. The building includes 220 hotel rooms, a rooftop with sweeping views of the city, and artistic touches like micro-libraries from Idle Times Books in each guest room. The project created more than 700 construction jobs and will create 230+ permanent jobs; 65% of those new employees are DC residents, according to Ward 1 Councilwoman Brianne Nadeau. "This hotel can bring much-needed daytime foot traffic to this neighborhood," she said. "This is going to be transformative for Adams Morgan."
