Business Roundtable Discussion with the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Nightlife & Culture

Director Shawn Townsend of the newly-created Mayor's Office of Nightlife & Culture (MONC) will be participating in a roundtable discussion with Adams Morgan businesses on Friday, January 25 from 3pm to 5pm at the Adams Morgan Community Center at The LINE Hotel. Businesses please RSVP to Brian Barrie (202-536-9515). This meeting is exclusively for businesses to get to know the new director and learn about the MONC. Note: the entrance to the Community Center is down the pathway to the right of the main entrance, adjacent to the alley.

Snow Reminder

DC Snow removal mandate ( via DPW ):

DC law requires residential and commercial property owners to remove snow/ice from the sidewalks around their property within the first eight hours of daylight after a storm ends. If the sidewalks are not cleared within 24 hours after the end of a storm, commercial property owners may receive a $150 fine, and residential property owners may receive a $25 fine.

Note from the Adams Morgan Partnership:

Please do not pile snow around sidewalk trash cans -- it makes them difficult to empty.

AMPBID Promotion -- Adams Morgan Date Night

We are working on a new promotion to position Adams Morgan as THE PLACE to go on a date in Washington, D.C. The initiative will run from late January to late March (8 weeks) and including digital advertising, web presence, press outreach and printed materials.

As part of the promotion, we'll be putting together sample date itineraries to inspire people to explore all the possibilities Adams Morgan has to offer. For example, a date might start with coffee at Tryst, continue with dinner at Jack Rose, and end with a late show at Songbyrd.

If you have a special or promotion of your own to contribute to the packages, or would like to be featured as a date night option, please respond to Brian Barrie (202-536-9515) ASAP to submit your promo and info.

Christmas Tree Collection

From DPW :

Holiday trees and greenery will be collected between January 14 and February 2. Residents in DPW-serviced households should place their trees and greenery where their trash and recyclables are normally collected. Trees and greenery collected during these three weeks (and those brought to the Fort Totten and Benning Road transfer stations) will be composted and made available to residents for free. Please remove all ornaments and lights; do not put trees and greenery in a bag. After February 2, place holiday trees and greenery where your trash is collected. They will be picked up with your trash as space in our trucks permits. Unfortunately, trees and greenery collected after February 2 will not be composted. As a reminder, apartment and condominium buildings with four or more units are required to provide their tenants with solid waste collections (this includes leaves and holiday trees/greenery).

The AMPBID clean team will assist DPW by collecting trees from side streets for DPW to pick up.

New Straw & Stirrer Requirements & Roundtable with DOEE

The DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) will begin inspecting businesses for compliance with the new straw requirements in January, but will treat the first 6 months of the year as an opportunity for compliance assistance rather than enforcement. Beginning July 1, 2019, DOEE will actively begin enforcement and start issuing fines.

The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan DC ( RAMW ) is hosting an informational roundtable with DOEE on Wednesday, January 30th from 2-3:30pm at Farmers & Distillers (600 Massachusetts Ave., NW) to discuss the new and current requirements. Click here to RSVP.
