Promote Date Nights in Adams Morgan this Winter

Promote your winter specials and show off DC’s romantic side during the Date Nights DC campaign. This campaign features Valentine’s Day deals and packages on washington.org and is organized by Destination DC, the tourism organization of DC.

Deals should be redeemable between Jan. 2 and Feb. 28, 2018.

DC-based fast casual restaurant &pizza will be opening their Adams Morgan location at 2465 18th St NW on Tuesday at 11:00am. This is the popular chain's 25th location and they will be open:

  • Sunday through Wednesday 11am - 11pm
  • Thursday 11am - 12am
  • Friday & Saturday 11am - 4am

In honor of opening their 25th location, they will be giving away 125 free pizzas to the first 125 people in line. Also, the first 25 people to request the & tattoo will get one for free + free pizza for a year.

Bom Restaurant and Bar

Serving Korean fried chicken and other specialties, Bom Restaurant and Bar will be opening Friday at the former Millie & Al's location at 2440 18th Street.

Bom will be open for lunch and dinner, and in addition to chicken, they will have a variety of other specialties including:

  • Tteokbokki - rice and fish cakes, wheat noodles, onions, stir-fried in a Korean red paper sauce topped with mozzarella cheese.
  • Takoyaki - fried octopus dumplings drizzled with Japanese mayonnaise, Katsu sauce and sprinkled with bonito flakes.

Last two weekends for the Adams Morgan Farmers Market this year

A note from our friends at Licking Creek Bend Farm:

This coming Saturday, December 16, is our next to last market for the season at the Adams Morgan Farmers Market, 18th Street and Columbia Rd. 8:00am - 1:00pm.

The forecast looks good (no snow like last week!).

We encourage you to come this Saturday and next (Dec 23 is our last for the season), to stock up on WINTER SQUASH, ONIONS, KALE, APPLES, CIDER, POTATOES, GARLIC, and other seasonal goodies including our own HONEY. These can become creative holiday gifts (sauces, jams, etc.).

If you haven't ordered a tree, now is the time. Or come by on Saturday and see what trees we have available.

Also, mark your calendar for our Farm Open House, Sunday, June 3. Our tours start at 11:00am. More details will follow, but it is a wonderful opportunity to see where and how our food is grown, meet our staff, swim in the Licking Creek, select a Christmas tree for next year, plant Christmas trees, share a veggie pot luck, and generally have a relaxing day in the country.

Know your responsibilities when it snows

We're not expecting any snow accumulation in the immediate future, but it's important to be prepared for it and know your responsibilities. Now is the time to evaluate your snow plan and ensure you are ready for it when it happens.

DC Snow removal mandate (via DPW):

All residential and commercial property owners must remove snow/ice from the sidewalks around their property within the first eight hours of daylight after the storm ends. The Department of Public Works enforces the “Winter Sidewalk Safety Rules,” by citing residential and commercial property owners who have not cleared their sidewalks within 24 hours after the storm ends. Residential property owners may be fined $25 and commercial property owners may be fined $150.

Snow Responsibilities:

DC Government:

  • Plows streets and bridges
    Note: Alleys are not cleared by the DC Government or by the BID.

Adams Morgan BID:

  • Works with the DC Government to ensure that all our commercial streets stay plowed.

  • Shovels crosswalks at intersections and puts down eco-friendly ice melt.

  • Clears access to fire hydrants, trash cans, and bus shelters.

  • May be able to lend shovels to businesses for a short period of time, but we have limited resources. Businesses should all have their own snow-clearing equipment.

Business/property owners are responsible for clearing their sidewalks. To prepare, they:

  • Should identify the staff people, or contractor, responsible for shoveling snow and removing ice.

  • Should make sure the right staff person has multiple ways to get to work during/after a snow event.

  • Should have enough shovels, ice breakers, and eco-friendly ice melt to make the sidewalk in front of your business safe.

Be good to your customers and neighbors, shovel early and often, and stay safe!

The 36th Annual Gala Returns to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center honoring the restaurant industry’s stars

Washington, DC (December 11, 2017)—Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) is pleased to announce that The 36th Annual RAMMY Awards will return to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Sunday, June 10, 2018. Award nominations are now open through Sunday, January 14, kicking off a full season that celebrates the region’s outstanding restaurants.

The RAMMY Awards Gala honors the exceptional ability and accomplishments of the hard-working individuals and organizations of the region’s restaurants and foodservice community. RAMW is currently accepting submissions in 20 awards categories, including looking for restaurants in the region that have been open for 25 to 50 years to be considered for this year’s Honorary Milestone RAMMY Award. Honoring longstanding local restaurants and RAMW members who have been in business for at least 25 years, the Honorary Milestone Award is bestowed onto only the Washington region’s most influential or beloved dining institutions. In celebration of for the producers and artisans that work so hard to provide incredible ingredients for the industry to utilize, the Regional Food and Beverage Producer category will once again be voted on by the RAMW restaurant membership.
