Adams Morgan Partnership Annual Meeting: March 8
|
The Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 8 at 5pm.
We will have elections for 5 positions on the Board of Directors (3 property owners and 2 business owners). The ballot will also include a vote on revisions to the AMPBID bylaws. The revised bylaws were mailed last week along with the ballots.

Voting began at noon on Friday, February 11 and will conclude at 6:30pm March 8 (during the annual meeting). Voting will be conducted online and the results will be announced at the end of the meeting.

This afternoon and evening, the region will potentially experience significant traffic disruptions resulting from a trucker convoy protesting COVID-19 vaccination requirements. It is not clear how many truckers will join the convoy, but local news outlets are noting 20 or so trucks today and other activities could be planned in the coming weeks. The event organizers do not have a permit for a first amendment demonstration, and according to the organizers website the convoy does not plan to actually enter DC and instead they plan to eventually stop near the intersection of the Beltway and US Route 50 to disrupt the Capital Beltway.
US Capitol Police and DC's Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) have requested the National Guard and about 700 unarmed National Guard troops are set to be deployed around the DC area to assist with traffic control and help local authorities solve any problems today and in the coming weeks. There are layered mitigation strategies in place and District agencies remain in regular contact with local, regional, and federal partners. It is unclear how disruptive or not this convoy will actually be, but this is an evolving situation, and we will share more information as it becomes available. Bridge Fund: Next Round of Applications open February 26
|
The current application period for the Bridge Fund is closing on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:59 PM EST.
The next application period will open on Saturday, February 26, 2022, and close on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 5:00 PM EST. Businesses that missed the opportunity to apply previously will have the opportunity to apply for funding in this next round. Businesses that apply in either round need to demonstrate at least a 20% loss of revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the period April 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021 (modified from 30% previously).
Award
Awards will range from $20,000-$100,000.
Use of Award

Business rent/mortgage (at least 50% of the award must be applied to rent)

Payroll and labor

Inventory (supplies but not merchandise for sale)

Eligible businesses
The Bridge Fund will be open to businesses that meet the following criteria:
A small business in the restaurant, retail, or entertainment sector
-
For-profit, small business physically located in the District of Columbia at a brick-and-mortar location
-
Generated no more than $5 million in gross receipts each in 2019, 2020, and 2021 (priority for businesses generating no more than $2.5 million)
-
Experienced at least a 20% loss of revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the period April1, 2020-December 31, 2021 (changed from 30% previously)
-
Has an active DC Basic Business License and an active ABRA License, if applicable
-
Businesses that applied during the previous period of the Bridge Fund (closed February 25 at 11:59 PM EST) are not eligible to apply during the next period (closing March 18 at 5:00 PM EST)

The Bridge Fund will prioritize businesses that have not received federal relief funds and microbusinesses with $2.5 million or less in revenue. Businesses that received awards from the Paycheck Protection Program are eligible to apply.

On the Hill,
the Senate averted a government shutdown last week when it passed a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government through Friday, March 11. The National Restaurant Association anticipates that Congress’ next step is to pass an omnibus spending bill, in which the Association continues to advocate for COVID-19 aid to help the 177,000 eligible restaurants who did not receive grants through the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF). As part of the national #HelpHospitality Day of Action, tomorrow, February 24th, leaders in the hospitality sector nationwide will urge their members of Congress to cosponsor the Continuing Emergency Support for Restaurants Act (S. 2675) and include it in the upcoming government spending package.

Join the U.S. Small Business Administration to celebrate Black History Month! The event will feature a fireside chat and conversation with SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman and Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Jr., President and CEO of the National Newspaper Publishers Association, on financial wellness, creating generational wealth through entrepreneurship, and the importance of increasing equity and access to opportunities to help uplift and support Black-owned small businesses. There will be an audience Q&A where Dr. Chavis will be joined by SBA’s Chief of Staff Antwaun Griffin and SBA St. Louis District Director Maureen Brinkley to discuss SBA initiatives and resources that support existing small businesses and new startups as they pivot and grow in a post-COVID world. The event will be moderated by Kendall Corley, the SBA’s Deputy Chief of Staff of External Engagement.

Women Who Enterprise (WWE) is an 11-week business accelerator program that utilizes a structured culturally competent curriculum. We offer a virtual cohort model that includes our signature "Lunch & Learn" series and a multitude of resources.
