Reminder: Monthly rat abatement walk throughs begin Friday April 5th

Beginning Friday April 5th and continuing on the first Friday of every month through November, we will meet with DOH Rat Abatement Specialist, Gerard Brown and his team, at 11:00 am in the SunTrust Bank Plaza at 18th and Columbia Road, NW.

Each month we will focus on a different alley/street/problem area.

Please join us for these monthly walk-throughs. In the event of rain, it will be rescheduled to the following Monday. Everyone is welcome to join us. If you are planning to join us, please call Kristen at 202-997-0783 so she knows to look for you.

The RAMMY Awards Gala is an annual industry event and fundraiser for the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington that recognizes the best and brightest in the restaurant industry in the Metropolitan Washington, DC region.

Each year with a new and exciting theme, RAMW brings together esteemed hospitality leaders for a special evening devoted to honoring excellence in our restaurant and food service community.

Looking for items to be used a prizes for AICI Conference

The Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) Annual Conference is taking place in May 2014 with 275 attendees.

They are looking for giveaways to help drum up excitement for the 2014 conference. These items are used for prize drawings at the closing gala of this year’s event. Deadline for receipt is April 10. CRAFT BREWERS CONFERENCE
Comes to Washington, DC

March 26-29, 2013

This year Washington, DC will play host to the Craft Brewers Conference, an industry event serving both brewpubs and packaging breweries. For these industry professionals, CBC represents an opportunity to share and educate one another on the latest improvements in brewing quality and performance. It also represents the largest social gathering of brewing pros from around the country gathering in our great city to enjoy the craft beers that we have to offer.

While there will be an amazing array of topics being discussed down at the Walter Washington Convention Center through out each day, our own Smoke & Barrel Restaurant at 2471 18th Street, NW  will host several fantastic events every day. Several of which include guest hosts, brewers and owners from their respective breweries.

Reminder: GWHCC EXPO - April 2

The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's (GWHCC) 4th Annual Business Expo is on Tuesday April 2 www.gwhcc.org . The AMPBID has purchased two booths that are to be shared by Adams Morgan businesses. There are 3 businesses so far sharing the two booths. The event is SOLD OUT so no additional booths are available.

This is a terrific opportunity to showcase your business and build connections with participating government agencies, corporations, embassies, non-profits, small businesses, and individuals in the local Hispanic business community. This year GWHCC is anticipating more 1,300 attendees (it is free to attend) and 110 exhibitors.

The Expo will offer business matchmaking sessions where buyers and suppliers can get to know each other in advance and set one-to-one meetings on the day of the Expo.

Become a Small Business Mentor...and help a DC entrepreneur launch a successful business

Enterprise DC is a 9-month pilot program that is managed in partnership between the Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF), Byte Back (a local non-profit computer training center) and the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation (GWHCCF).

It combines small business development, business management experience and computer literacy training to help unemployed or underemployed DC residents launch successful businesses.

Now that students have completed the 6-week FastTrac NewVenture course, Enterprise DC is working to match candidates with a DC business and/or a mentor based on the candidate’s area of interest and the business’s need.

An internship can provide invaluable experience in day-to-day operations... and additional workforce to the proprietor at NO COST.

A mentor will help a participant complete his/her business plan—a graduation requirement. Mentors will provide a 3-6 month plan for improvement and will work with participants throughout the remainder of the program to launch their business and help prep them to pitch their business plans.

The hands-on knowledge and advice participants obtain from experienced entrepreneurs will help guide their business future.

When your business hosts an ENTERPRISE DC intern you will provide them an invaluable chance to apply their skills and assist in day to day business operations up close. You are invited to attend a series of three breakfast forums of the DC Small Business Policy Project, launched by the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) in conjunction with the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD).
