PNHoffmanForest City Washington and PN Hoffman to Develop Condominiums at The Yards

Forest City Washington and PN Hoffman have announced the signing of a purchase and sale agreement in which PN Hoffman will acquire a site located at The Yards in the Capitol Riverfront. The site will be used to develop a condominium building of about 130 units on 10 floors that will be the first for-sale residential product at The Yards development.

The development site, located on 4th Street, SE at Tingey Street, SE in The Yards, is approximately one-third of "Parcel O" in The Yards master plan. A rooftop resident's lounge, outdoor kitchen and fire pits, private terraces and balconies, and front desk staff are just a few of the features.

The actual closing on this land is not expected to occur until sometime next year and site work will likely not commence until late 2015.

NGANGA Building Demolition Under Way

Demolition of the former National Geospatial Intelligence Agency building (NGA) located on the block bounded by M, 1st, New Jersey & Tingey Streets, SE is proceeding rapidly and should be completed in the next few months.

Once demolition is complete, the site will be cleared and programmed with a variety of uses including the New York Trapeze School, surface parking for Nationals games, and an open space venue that can be used for smaller concerts, festivals, and other activities.

The site will eventually be redeveloped by Forest City Washington with almost 2 million square feet of commercial space that could include office space and ground floor retail. The cleared site will give our neighborhood much needed temporary programming space as we are seeing several surface parking lots being redeveloped and transformed into new buildings.
